What Clarke said after the game: “It is nice to have won three on the bounce because it is important to get little runs going in order to build momentum. I was delighted with the overall team performance. If I was to be over-critical then I would say we could and probably should have finished the game as a contest a lot sooner. We let in a sloppy goal from a set-piece, but the players deserve credit because we bounced back and scored another good goal down the other end. I believe this team will keep improving, but we aren’t getting carried away. It is another good home win, but we now have another big game on Saturday against a good Woking side. We take the plaudits for this performance, but we move on. The lads are level-headed because they know that nothing is achieved in September. I’d like to thank the fans because they were excellent for us. They really got behind the lads and it makes all the difference. We have a good set of lads who are working hard for the football club. They are winners and they want to win for Bristol Rovers. We don’t have any big-hitters because we are trying to do things right and the backing of our supporters is crucial for us at the moment.” On man-of-the-match Taylor ending his goal drought, Clarke added: “The boy deserved a goal. His work-rate, effort and desire has been incredible since he has been here and that is why he is playing in my team. He will score plenty of goals for us over the course of the season.”
