Currently doing a Everton save peeps! Very good save IMO BECAUSE it is challenging(I now know what a amazing job Moyes has done at that club). No budget to start with means you have to sell before you buy, small squad lacking in depth & the board want you to end in the top-half(currently 8th in Jan so doing pretty well). Had to sell Heightdickno(sp) to CSKA Moscow for 6m, Saha for 4.1m to NUFC!!! & loaned out a couple of youngsters. Everton HAVE a amazing midfield though. Arteta, Fellani(sp), Rodwell(potentially can be as good or better than both A & F) & Cahill. Lack a quality striker so bought in Benitez for 1.5m & Wickham(sp) for 3.5m & have Beckford/Julio Cruz(freebies) as back-ups. There defence is also AWESOME. Distin/Jags partnership is one of the best in the league! consistent, solid, constant threat from set-pieces & reliable. Also bought the likes of Shaquiri(sp.. he's a switezerland LW/LM), Kewell(very good versatility), Cani(Villreal for 1m.. transfer listed), Clyne(2m), Kevin(2m.. future replacement for Arteta) & a couple of other decent freebies to add squad depth. In conclusion I'll definitely recommend doing a Everton save!
Good luck with that, might do a lesser known team in a foreign league sometime, I got my Spartak Moscow save which is 3 years into it, but what pisses me off is that I need 5 russian players in the first team during national games, which gets hard if no new ones come into the game, found one decent one so far and it's impossible to buy the good ones from rivals like CSKA. Ah darn it, I lost the dressing room in my Everton save! So I left it.. I wasn't going to get into the Europa League & that was my aim unfortunately Morale basically DROPPED after I couldn't get a win in 4 games.. despite winning in the derby 1-0 to Liverpool! I still have my Reading save(2014-05) to go to if I need it.. but I'll prefer to start with a smaller team... mmm.. gotta think about this one!
Just into the 2016/17 season with us. Got my best finish of 4th place last season and into the qualifying round for the CL. Was in the title race until 34 games but lost 1-2 at home to city, 2-3 at home to Blackburn (who have won the FA Cup on this save) and 0-1 away to Spurs (who won the league!). I did beat Liverpool 3-0 on the final day though. And I've got Carroll on a free transfer (and £100k p/w). My team is: GK: Eneyama & Alnwick (signing a new keeper is top priority this summer). RB: Romario (need new RB cover, Zabaleta gone to Juve on a free). CB: Sakho, Cahill, Kadar & a young potential 4* brazilian. LB: Enrique & Jack Robinson. DM: Defour & Khedira (on a free from Real). CM: Jack Wilshire, Rafinha and Maninho. AMR: Torje and Kakuta. AML: Ben Arfa & Granero ST: Carroll, Kadlec, Nahib (young Egyptian signed for £15m last season, Chiquinho & Biro (young Brazilians). I've got a £30m transfer kitty as Lakuku (sp) went to Inter for £20m one season after I got him on a free from Benfica (he had a release clause) - decent profit for one season. Just got to get myself a GK and RB then I'm good to go next season.
Haha, he went to Hibs on my Reading save! Scored something like 15 in 28.. Shows the poor quality of the SPL right there!
Keep him playing until his late 30's and he'd be in with a shout! To the likes of St Mirren and Hamilton it'll be like coming up against Messi!
I started one of those a couple of months back but Cabaye, Gervinho and Sow all got sold against my will - the offer 'was too good to turn down'. I had Sow for three seasons on my current Newcastle save, he got 21 league goals in his second season as a poacher and 'run onto ball' set. Ended up selling him to Fiorentina as he fell away badly in his third season and Kadlec came good. Hazard is tearing it up at Real on my save.
Yeah his stats aren't great, but he went to Schalke on my current save and always scores 20+ per season.
Well I hope that doesn't happen otherwise it'll be ruined! :/ How much were they sold for? Cabaye has a small release clause aswell unfortunately.
Yeah, Cabaye went for very little due to the release clause. Gervinho and Sow both went for around the £17-20m mark. Gervinho to City, can't remember where Sow went. I got hacked off after that so deleted it and started my current Newcastle save.
