Morning birds of paradise, Im a little annoyed that Lambert is leaving you for Aston Villa. Yes they are a bigger club in a number of ways(no disrespect as they're obviously bigger than saints too) but Roberto Martinez proved himself correct this season to not leave Wigan village FC for them last summer as they clearly have no ambition to spend serious money and look to try and do well with their kids. Whilst I admire their approach on this as a long term strategy it means that apart from a larger stadium they're practically working on a similar budget to us mid-lower premier league sides.
personally, i don't believe lambert really wanted to go to villa initially. i get the feeling he's felt he needs to move on from norwich as he maybe felt a bit stale after three very successful but demanding years and they are the only option available to him. it is a bigger club so it's not a move to be sniffed at, but i feel he expected more interest from liverpool. he's ended up being sloppy thirds at villa but at least it will be a club he can get his teeth stuck into. its a huge gamble though - i honestly felt lambert would continue to rise until he reached the very top of the game, now i wonder if he might fail in a job at villa. we shall see - 50/50 for me as to whether he succeeds there - 90/10 had he stayed at norwich for another season. risky
I think this move has effectively been orchestrated by being looked over for the Liverpool job, that's got to hurt hasn't it Rodgers getting the job without you even getting a sniff
That's a valid point Rich - it would appear that Lambert never figured in Liverpool's plans and his move to Villa coiuld be prompted by a "Right, I'll show you" attitude. I agree with Supers comments above - this could go very wrong for Lambert and is a very risky move imo. I'm full of positivism - I am confident that McInally will get us an ambitious, motivational, hungry young manager who will drive our wonderful club forward and build on the good work (let's be thankful to Lambert for that) that has happened in the last three years. Onwards and upwards - OTBC !
Yes there's no point in being bitter, it's happened lets move on. Take some comfort from the fact that this has happened right at the start of the close season giving us time to get a new guy in and for him to get players in.
