It was by a normal posting so you could easily see and discount any `spoiling ` votes , If memory served we offered up name suggestions ,put forward our preferences and then voted , I think Yorkshire was fairly instrumental in the whole procedure!

Yes - but was there actual voting or did someone have to read each post?

Hello Yorkshire! Hows you today? Your input would be valued here as a `founder member` of the 606 nest!
What is your opinion kill at 5000 or leave it to evolve naturally!

Yorkie - your opinion is valued not as a "founder" member of anything - but as a democratically equal member of our little community. :)

50 odd pages on any thread seems a little too much. Maybe move on after 2000 rather than 5000

Norway - I understood but think that we are all equals and that there should be no "senior" views just because someone was first here or there - your post tended to suggest Yorkie's vote might carry higher weight.

Thanks Leo! Just linking with NZ about who reads the backstory and how much of it should be kept on the thread.

I aso agree we are all equals! here one of the many positive aspects of this community! However I will temper that by saying I will value your view or opinion more than say Gary!!!! I guess its a respect thing! but it does prove that there will always be a personal bias , which will alter any true equality!

Anyone played with the search thread tool its quite cool you put in key or tagged words and it narrows down the list of what you have to search for!

Nz has a point. With 50 + pages on the thread who would read the back numbers?

How many of us look at the earliest threads on the threads list!!!
NZ did initially say why change it!!
Very quickly we have gone to 8 pages the nest in original format was like a catch all (sponge if you like, to mop up all the chatter)
Besides it would be nice for little Watford to get the biggest thread etc !
I still dont think anything is broken and see no reason to fix it!

The nest kind of acts a current archive of all things watford and other stuff that doesnt slot into another thread ,do we really need to compartmentalise it further?

Hmmm - I guess I would have preferred a vote where everyone just voted as they wanted -not that we have someone coralling the votes one way - this is not a political election Norway and I do feel you are trying very hard to influence the outcome your way. Why can't you let people make up their own mind without prompting and influencing them so we get a genuine reflection of what people want. If that is not how you or I would vote does it really matter?

I did not expect a "political" campaign just a simple poll.

Frankly I don't care if we have long thread or several shorter ones - but I would have liked to know what "unprompted" opinions were
