Judging by the posts on here, we Hughton outers have finally won the argument. But who wants to be right at the expense of his football club? Unless something drastic happens, we're as good as down. I say sack the three wise monkeys immediately and put Adams in temporary charge. We'll lose to Hull anyway with Hughton on Saturday, so the risk is worth it. In fact, I'd say it's more risky to do nothing.
The happy clappers are right about one thing, though - he is slowly improving the club. His first competitive match was a 5-0 loss at Fulham; eighteen months months later we only lost 3-0. We have to think long-term. At this rate we might beat them by 2020.
As an outsider looking in, it does seem that tonight a "tipping point" has been reached amongst you lot tonight, the overwhelming consensus of this board is now clearly against Hughton's tenure.
And what was his starting XI tonight? It read like a suicide note. We desperately need RvW and Hooper to get time on the pitch together so they learn how to work with each other - neither starts. Snodgrass and Redmond both look desperately in need of a break after playing too much this season - both of them start.
Highlights of the interview We were poor at both ends of the ground Some of our possession was very good, but getting nothing from it. It needs sorting out. More than anything, we wanted to stay in this competition. At the moment, we are not productive enough in front of goal. There is 'drive' in the team, and the lack of confidence is coming from not winning games.
Which is strange considering almost everyone was saying how this game didn't matter and we need to concentrate on the league. Goes to show every game is important in the eyes of a fan, whatever they may say beforehand.
Can't say I'm impressed by all the crowing in here from the Hughton out brigade tonight. You may have been right but the truth is we are likely sinking into the championship. It may be you feel some satisfaction at that but as far as I'm concerned this is nothing more than a massive disappointment to me. Hughton clearly can't turn things round so it's bring on someone new and start building afresh. Not something I'm looking forward to as there will be lots of bleak days to endure before things will get better. Does anyone seriously believe by some miracle we sack Hughton and bring in a lambert mark 2 to transform our season and keep us up? I don't and think we are heading for years of struggle and I see absolutely nothing to crow about
I think people were saying the result didnt matter but we were looking for a good performance to carry in to the hull game
Believe it or not, five (5) years ago today, Glenn Roeder's tenure as NCFC guv'nor came to a shuddering halt. Could lightning strike twice?
Possibly the straw that broke the camel's back, a relentless grinding down over the previous weeks of the Hughton-Inners until even they could take no more.
With a loss in an FA Cup replay at that. As I pointed out on another thread. Roeder has now got a higher win percentage than Hughton. As have Peter Grant and Worthy.
Read my earlier post more carefully. Nobody's crowing. More like crying. Our football club is in the mire. However, I don't think it's as bad as you say in the rest of your post. These are not bad players. With a fresh start, there's plenty of hope. But it has to be soon. Immediate, in my opinion.
These players need a new man to lead them with fresh idea's & motivation. Its not to late to do this but if we keep on giving him another game then another very soon it will be. 19 games left, effectively 14 if you look at the last five, so change must happen now. There are people out there that we could put on a contract to the end of the season and say"go on make me offer you a new deal" Its down to how big DM'S nuts are now?
Won the argument? You mean tonight's match has made some pro-Hughton posters on here change their minds? Big deal. The only "arguments" that matter take place in the boardroom. Whether tonight's match has caused any change of mind there remains to be seen.
