I'm not saying they weren't driven by religion. What I'm saying is not just religious groups who have been guilty of persercuting though fear or something they don't understand. These mentalities were not EXCLUSIVE TO RELIGION. I've given you examples. You've proved my point in your last sentence mate. Looking at some varieties of Islam, some religious societies still are barbaric while others have changed mentality. Now Anglican Christianity supports Gay Vicars. It's clear the era of Christianity I was on about. Obviously not in the undeveloped society of medieval Britain, more the developing side of society of Victorian Britain on wards to the 60's and 70s. You know what I mean anyway, why am i explaining myself? There's no need too. You're trying to bend my words and missing my point in the process. I'm talikng about recent social decline coinciding with the decline of Christianity in this country, wtf that has to do with medieval Britain burning 'witches' good only knows. I'm on about the last couple of centuries
Religion in England is best illustrated by William Tyndale being put to death for heresy because he translated the bible from Roman or Greek into plain English for everyone to read. A few years later Henry VIII founded the Church of England for his own ends and demanded the bible should be in English only.
