Those early 70's years were great for gigs; at the time I was earning good money, living at home paying a bit of lodge money and had cash to burn - if there was nothing on at City Hall a gang of us would be on a coach somewhere to see a band ............... same as you, I missed out on Lou Reed. For various reasons I never got to see The Who either, they were really accessible then but whenever I had the chance I just kept dipping out .......... gutted!
I saw them at City Hall, the time of 'Live at Hull'/'Live at Leeds'. Ligged our way in by helping the roadies lug the gear up all those steep stairs. Then we were in - stayed in. Saw them another time at Hull Uni, when Townsend decked some guy who got arsey and onstage... Oh - and saw them at the Isle of Wight in 69
I was at the Leeds gig the day after. Seems the plan was to release the Hull City Hall recording but there were some technical difficulties, so the recorded the Leeds performance and released that. You didn't tamper with their gear did you Dr. Stan ?
That's really great ....... I'm soooooooooooooo pleased you share that with me, the ****in' Who, played my home town and every city in Yorkshire and I somehow managed to miss 'em EVERY ****in' time ............ I'm glad you enjoyed them ..... no, really! Twat
