Forest are very average technically, but they have the running and strength to do well in the Championship.

Reading fans becoming impatient with Nigel and his excuses apparently. Also annoyed at the owner for not backing him as expected.

    One comment:

"Disappointing day as the Adkins revolution gets to look more and more like the Rogers revolution. Soft defensive goal given away, lots of meaningless tippy tappy possession in your own half, and poor finishing."

Jesus christ, 4 games in and they are already calling for his head. He took over an abysmal side last year, utterly naive and weak, so it was never going to be an overnight job. They need another striker, and from what I understand Nigel wants more players in. The owner has to take some responsibility.

He hasn't been backed properly at all. Bridge and Drenthe were frees, and that's it. They had so much crap to clear out, if he wants to play his way.

Exactly, Nigel will know that this isn't going to be like managing us in the Championship, because he doesn't have the quality of Schneiders and Cork in the middle of midfield, who are so good on the ball. Plus, Reading don't have Rickie Lambert. They need a guy who you can rely on, to get you 20+ goals.

Also, credit where due, it may have ended poorly (in the view of some fans), but NC always backed NA (and AP for that matter) in the market.

Absolutely. Pards wanted a striker in League One who had a proven record at scoring goals, NC gave him a £1m to buy Rickie. Nigel wanted somebody who could chip in with some vital goals in final few months of the season in the championship, NC got Sharp, who scored some valuable goals for us.

The Reading owner is probably thinking this team got promoted before, so they can do it again. Doesn't work like that. McDermott took them on a ridiculous run to win the league. The players themselves lived on confidence and not ability.

Reading had a terrific run which coincided with a poor spell from us to win the Championship title, but there was no way they were a better team than us or even as good as us. They needed money spent. I remember his excitement when he came to SMS...he had the finance and support to achieve glory and he knew it. If it doesn't work out at Reading, it will work out at another club. Nigel has been a good manager at several teams...he hasn't suddenly become a bad one.
