As I said its the persons own choice and clearly a lot of people chose to buy it.
But the point is if they are going to sell it and people chose to buy it they should provide a service that works for the customer and the club

I take my own food and drink. It's not difficult. Just needs some thought prior to leaving home.

  4. I buy a bottle of Sprite and a Yorkie bar in town and take it in to the ground with me. Only costs £1.60 and I don't waste time queueing up at half time.

As has been said before, why some have to push pints and pasties through their faces at a rate of knots (and at great expense) is beyond me.

Probably because of so long watching football at the Dell and knowing it was completely pointless going for a food as there wasn't any and you'd have to wait for ages for a tea coffee and beer wasn't on sale... that I never got into the habit of wanting or needing refreshments at St Mary's.

Be interested to know how much the club does make from refreshments and as an experiment, for one match, have none available and see if the atmosphere before and after half time improves as a result.

Completely at random: 25,000 people at average of £4 per head (allowing for each person spending £0-6) equals £100,000. Allowing for at least 50% profit = £50,000. My guess is a bit higher than that. Is there anyone out there who works in the field who could provide a better guess? There's also the fact that punters expect this service.

Doubt in a crowd of 25,000 there is more than 30% or 40% using the refreshments. Doubt the club makes more than £10k profit in an average game excluding the corporates (which were yet again, pretty empty yesterday)

My £4 a head allowed for some not buying anything...bet quite a few spend £6 or more. It's a guess though which is why I'm hoping we have a Saints mole in our midst. Bet NC can't wait till we get back in the PL to fill those corporate boxes...it must gnaw into his soul seeing them empty. Recession has also hit that area of the business and I believe there are tax changes coming in which will hit corporate hospitality (and therefore sport especially).

P.s. your name is causing me difficulties, CBK. Sitting here thinking..chocolate mmm.

I remember NC coming out a couple of years ago and saying he wanted to upgrade the catering facilities and the whole catering area but nothing appears to have been done
    Or did I imagine it?

Let's face it, the quality of the food/drink is poor, choice is very limited and horribly overpriced and the service is slow to put it politely. The surroundings are very Spartan, concrete and bare brick has never been my favourite

If Saints, put some money and effort into this part of their "product" I'm sure it would benefit the club and have always been a fan of opening up the facilities after the game to allow fans who wish to avoid the traffic/rush to stay behind and have a drink and chat through the game with fellow fans - a bit like they do in the South Stand

Jeez this place is bitchy ! It was with reference to alcohol being expensive, as well as food in the ground. Another poster talked about going to the pub prior to the game. I was merely extrapolating from that and saying that I never understood people going out and getting hammered prior to a game.

I'm sorry if that was too complicated for you, or went against your posting rules, but please, put your claws away for a minute !

Personally, I am happy with the food and beverage provided at SMS. I think it is better than last year because there is more choice. Have you been to other stadiums and seen a better selection? The reason the food is sold out is because the amount of choice means there will be less of each item. The beer is better, fresher, colder and served faster. If you don't ike it do what others do and eat before/after or take your own. I am happy and hope they don't change it. As for not having any drinks holders you are probably right; that may improve some peoples experience.

Alcohol is a diuretic so you get rid of more than you take in, that's why you end up feeling dehydrated with a headache. There endeth the lesson.

It would be nice to be able to get a bovril or tea at half time, but the queues are mental. Sort it out Nicola, or i'll start supporting Bournemouth.
