Looking fwd to the summer transfer window... the season is done really.

I agree. I think finishing outside of European places might not be be the worst thing either. Can we attract top players playing in the Europa league or conference league?

Should be a fun one, depends on the hangover from the cup final though, no europe no party imho. If we fall to pieces now and fail to make the top 7 and europe in the process it'll be that much harder to get the quality in we need.

At least 5 first team players needed, CB, LB, CM, RW, CF you can't win a cup with a half fit Willock, Ritchie, Murphy and Anderson (who has 361 mins of first team football under his belt) coming off the bench.

I'd still see top 8 as a big step fwd and I think top 6 might.

I personally don't think expectations should change based on form or half a season because when we look at the season before a ball is kicked we're deciding what our expectations are shd what we'd be happy with for that full season.

We signed Guimareas in 19th... we got lucky because the other clubs didn't fancy him for some reason.

If they can fool a few more stupid clubs this summer that could be a game changer.

We have a bright future mate. Imagine telling all of us, eighteen months ago, that we would be threatening the top four and in a final of a cup competition! We have had an electric 19 games whereby everything we touched turned to gold. our lack of squad depth was always going to catch us up (hence why most of us hoped for top eight!) If we blag a top six, the world will be our oyster. We attracted Guimaraes, Botman, Isak and Trippier when we had very little to offer. We now offer proper progression, the beginnings of a realised project and European competition. Just need to sort the commercial aspects out. Fat Mike did a number on us there and we need to build up the coffers before we can splurge like a mad thing from mad land!

Just heard Staveleys interview post match yesterday

She very boldly said we would win the league cup, the fa Cup, the Premier league and the champions league.

Love the ambition. PSG and City are yet to win the CL despite their vast accounts so we shall see on that. The other trophies are definitely attainable if we go about this correctly. It will take time though. I just want to enjoy the journey right now

I'm still sticking with top 9 and a cup QF is a good season for us <cheers>

As you've all said we've managed to get Tripps, Bruno, Botman and Isak in 6 months on and the signs are there we are going to compete for trophies in the future so it doesn't all depend on Europe but it'll be a big help to accelerate the process.

It's something to be embraced....something tells me we're going to have the last laugh .

I think Casimero was onside to be fair. Somebody else was off, but not interfering with play as such.
I agree. It was too close to call it for me. And as a result for me the goal should stand.

OFC it would have been disallowed for us mind.

The second we kept on backing off.

We need another class midfielder to free up Bruno. A destroyer.

Well I didn't think it was a free kick in the 1st place. I'm annoyed because at that point if anyone was going to win it was the toon.

That said Newcastle conceded the two goals in 6 minutes and didn't score the goal needed to get back in the game.
It was a very soft freekick. But it was a good goal. Something we should be doing.

We never score from set pieces. It’s a massive problem.
