The scene towards the end where the Nazi solider stabs to death the American Jewish soldier slowly because he is just stronger is even worse. I couldn't get that image out of my mind for a couple of days
It’s hard to imagine anyone now looking at what that part of London used to be…desolate and bleak. When I did the knowledge all those years ago I used to think how downtrodden Stratford used to look…ruined, falling down buildings and a look I’d despair. When I went back a few years ago the transformation had amazed me
Spoiler alert ….if you haven’t seen Breaker Morant, a great film (though probably less factually accurate than it would like you to believe) but think you might like to, don’t watch the clip, it’s the final scene. The film is about the trial of some Australian soldiers engaged in guerrilla warfare in the Boer War, poses some interesting questions about the oxymoronic morality of war. Beautifully filmed and superbly acted, especially by Edward Woodward. Rule 303!
Want a film about working people @Staines R's? The daddy of them is Bicycle Thieves, which I am sure you have seen already. The greatest film for me, I re watch every few years and it always has me in tears. Post war Rome, where a job, and from that survival, respect and family security, depends on having a bicycle. All the actors are amateurs. A work of genius. You can see the whole film (subtitles) on YouTube.
