i ve said before that i met the bloke in a one-to-one situation whilst watching a football match, and Nigel Pearson is a knowledgeable, down-to-earth nice bloke. everything he said to me was sensible and honest. he had an opportunity to get some financial security in the midlands and took it. who wouldn't?
TWF wittering on still about the supposedly evil Pearson twins.. Barmby got "too many" appearances?? WTF? he didn't get enough, he had to retire too early more like to serve his beloved club.., who else read the game like Barmby, at 37 he still knew where to be in the box, there haven't been many better footballers at City throughout our history and you Mr TWF are a broken-record.. How was NP supposed to provide us with champagne football in those dark days? No, he wasn't a media savvy operator but he did as well as he could.. Sure, I too think that we've got a good boss these days, but don't forget he's got money to spend.. Pearson didn't.
Sounds like me tbh Mussie. Apart from the Midlands bit. Im more E Anglia. Seriously though, I never understood the reaction that some gave making it look like he'd cheated on them after being married for years.
Nige was the right person at the right time in my view. He was good at working without a budget (or a very tight one), he cleared out no end of crap, set us up defensively and left us in a much better position. It is a shame Nick didn't work out, that would have been the dream I guess, but reality kicked in and we are were we are, and we wouldn't be without the work of the preceding few managers including Brownie.
It's agenda city on here. Mussiesredhat will chip in soon with something anti-sky and pro-Yorkshire Post.
up until last Saturday, our best and most entertaining display for years was under Nigel Pearson at Brighton. He was building something special of his own when Sum Yung Boi in the midlands offered him and his family a great deal of financial security for the rest of his working life. if he is sacked, he will be working soon afterwards, and possibly in a situation of his choice
With a bizarre view of history that you have, you could make Hitler look misunderstood. Anyway, all this talk is a bit forward. Let's get through tomorrow night first.
At the time we thought he left us for a worse club for more money - IMO that is inexcusable in a profession where your salary is already incredible and really makes little difference to your quality of life if you get an extra 0 on the end. Since then however we've had all the Barmby/Allam stuff and I think Pearson had the exact same issues with those above as Barmby did. He had to make do with cheap or free signings all the time when it was no longer necessary and he'd shown he was capable of spending wisely if given the chance. He probably got fed up of having to work on such a shoestring budget and realised it was easier at Leicester. If that was it then I don't really blame him.
Good post. Even before a ball had been kicked last season the writing was on the wall for Nige due to the way things were heading. I had insider knowledge at the time. Still wouldn't mind seeing him sacked though. He's a ****.
Looking at the ticket prices I'd blame dwindling attendances on finance rather than NP. If he was the problem and seen as he's not here anymore, people would surely come flooding back wouldn't they? The atmosphere hasn't been helped by the style of football before the last few games but it has been largely flat since before our relegation from the top flight.
It would be ironic if we were the ones that gave NP the sack, but can't help but think Leicester will just piss their season up yet again if they do sack NP. It seems daft to be sacking a manager this early, especially when the league is so compact and a couple of games can see you at the top end or bottom end. With the circus of finding a manager willing to take the job from trigger happy owners it seems more trouble than it's worth to be honest. Though if Leicester want to balls up their season there won't exactly be a queue of people trying to stop them.
Nigel Pearson will do ok at Leicester cos he is a good manager. whether it will be enough for Sum Yung Boi and the Ragheads is another thing. however, Nigel pearson will probably come out of it with £500k to £1 million in his back pocket. so who is the mug?
