I'm just waiting to see HAIG's juggernaut veer off the road again and end up in a rusting pile as it did last time around
You would have said the same thing this time last season All I'm saying is that we are barely into December and there is a long way to go yet. I expect us to turn it around and finish in the top 4 again. Depending on where Spurs finish, this thread could end up looking pretty silly.
Who could have predicted that Capello would have resigned? Or that Redknapp would have so completely screwed up our season? Who could have predicted that RVP would have had such a fantastic season? Who could have predicted that those two factors would coincide? What are the chances that (a) Arsenal will find anyone nearly as good RVP was last season, or (b) Spurs will such dire form as we did in the last third of last season, when Redknapp was w*nking himself blind with dreams of World Cup glory, instead of finishing the job he was being paid to do for us? I had every reason to believe that we would have finished 3rd (and above you) last season, and it was merely freak factors that prevented that from happening. Equally, I have every confidence that we will finish above you this season, and that only freak factors will prevent that from happening.
(a) we already have (Giroud and Podolski have got as many as RVP did this stage last season) (b) you usually do
I won't look silly if you finish above us at the end of this season. It will either mean we have continued run of bad injuries or we have under performed. It will be the Spurs players and manager who look silly if that happens.
Me too ! I just needed to see it again to see if we were as bad as the post match fall out made it out to be. To be fair, Swansea played very well and nicked it at the end. I think we've got issues that we need to address, but I don't buy into the doom mongering that seems to surround our club
WBA next Piskie. It won't be easy but I think you'll pip them. They're on a downward spiral having probably peaked already. Yes I agree with you about the doom surrounding your club, things aren't that bad yet but I hope that they do.
Thanks If we don't beat West Brom you can bet the doom mongers will be out in force. My personal opinion is that like last season, the problems that we have are in our control to put right. Swansea played really well today, but ultimately it was our own mistakes that cost us. Other than them though, no team has outplayed us. I'm still confident that wenger will turn it around and we'll finish in the top 4. The problem for us though is that for some of our fans, that is still seen as a failure.
The best WBA can hope for is a draw but if they win....................wow what a bonus that would be. Wenger's always turned it around before so you're probably right. You've become a very unpredictable team but losing RVP isn't the end of the world. We lost Modric and VdV and look where we are,7 places above you so we've lost nothing.
I like the way you toy with him, TMT Give him hope whilst holding out the possibility of abject failure. Cute.
With a cute little name like Piskie he seems ripe for the plucking HIAG. His username hardly inspires fear in anybody does it so I think we have a more gentle er...trainable Arsenal supporter here who is capable of improvement. I like him.
Not sure why the Arsenal fans on here keep talking about their future spending, as they outspend us on wages to the tune of £1m per week at the moment. Given that figure, you'd expect a side that's comparable and competitive to the Manchester duo, especially when you've got a long established manager and a supposedly outstanding youth system. What happened to all of these Goon wunderkind that we were told about in the past? Put simply, with the spending power available to them and the constant draw of the Champions League, you'd expect them to have a team that's challenging for trophies on a yearly basis. They're not. Their executives are lining their pockets, their debt's dropping year-on-year and they're charging their fans more than any other club in the world, whilst telling them that they'll win stuff later on. The supporters are getting very pissed off with it, in my experience and they've got every right to.
I think I'll restrain from any rival baiting until the end of the season. We're all WELL aware of our lot's ability to gift Arsenal position and points (directly or indirectly). A 5 point gap at the moment is nice - but in 2 games we could be 1 point behind. Then who's laughing?
Interestingly, we are actually in a better position for 3rd after 15 games compared to last season: http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/...played&matchNo=15&tableView=CURRENT_STANDINGS Last season you guys were 5 points ahead at 3rd, same as now, but with a game in hand... It just goes to show that a lot of teams have dropped points so far, there's still everything to play for.
