    I'd say respectfully the difference may be more that people love the game in England. In the US people may say they love a sport or a team, but they really only like them by comparison. I'd just as well not go to a Steelers game, with all the extra time and plastic seats it involves. I'm perfectly happy to watch it on television. So higher ticket prices for most US fans are more of a minor gripe. Going to a game isn't part of a treasured and vital experience.

    There's a lot to be said for a really good organization of the game that keeps both salaries and ticket prices reasonable. We'd all prefer to see players playing for glory. But capitalism ensures the more people like something, the more the subjects will get paid and the more the spectators will pay. I wouldn't mind ditching capitalism, but there doesn't seem to be much going on in that regard.
