Sorry Cumbrian, but that's cack. I have a similar number of employees and none of them have a company car(even me), as is the case with most companies, tax changes made company cars far too expensive for them to be practical. The tax you have to pay on the benefit in kind of use of a vehicle makes it not cost effective. It's far cheaper to the company and to the individual to have their own car and charge the company per mile travelled, it's a pain in the arse(as you have to log all journeys), but it's way cheaper both for the company and for the driver. It suits some businesses to still run company cars, but in the main, they're a thing of the past.
I find it highly interesting here that only Cumbrian isnt swallowing the PR machine blaming the previous regime for what really isnt a big issue. I imagine the story the other way around: "City scouting network suffers to save on company car outlay" and the backlash that wouldve received. Throwing fish to clapping seals...
I know our company does do company cars once you get to middle management level. However I know even if i as a graduate have to go on compnay travel it has to be in a company car (pool car) due to insurance reasons. This maybe becuase they are construction sites etc im unsre. I went up to conduct an interview in the Glasgow office and no site work was involved and i was still made to go in a company car due to insurance reasons.
I wasn't arguing with you, I was just suggesting you were talking bollocks. Thirty company cars for a staff of 70 is completely and utterly ridiculous and the scouts thing is bollocks, we only employ Walsh as a chief scout, there are no others directly employed by the club as scouts, so they couldn't be provided with a company car(they could get expenses for doing work on behalf of the club, but someone who is not an employee can't be provided with a company vehicle).
On another issue, would somebody care to explain why the article only singles out company cars for non playing staff? Could it possibly be because the bill for company cars for playing staff far excedes this despite the fact they have no need for a company car whatsoever considering all travel away from the regular workplace is provided? One might suggest that the non-playing staff are being held publicly responsible for the financial mess the club got into as a result of playing contracts.
Agreed far too many people on the board are quick to slate the last regime for every issue going, TWF is one who doesnt so much and he gets slated for his views. I just think people need to realise that any relegated club is going to struggle with finances for a couple of years even more so with our parachute payments being spent already. Yes we were mismanaged but bloody compnay cars are the least of our worries when we pay someone 40k a year in the championship. Know one on these boards as far as im aware knows anything what so ever about the compnay accounts its pure media speculation which is usually pure ****e.
Actually, several of us on here(some of whom are accountants) get a copy of the clubs accounts as soon as they are filed, I get them sent by my accountant. You can look at any companies accounts, it only costs a £1.
i d be interested to see how many of these non-playing away travellers are still on the bus when it gets back to its destination in Hull. Not many I suggest. In fact does anyone know where the team bus leaves from these days, or indeed how far it comes back?
The players are responsible for their own cars, they don't get company cars, which is why they've specifically mentioned they were for non playing staff.
No, it's because the didnt want to go into the details of player company cars because it would dwarf this issue. I know for a FACT that playeing staff get company cars. Just to clarify I dont mean they get given a standard Ford Focus....
I mean the reasoning behind them not the accounts themselves we dont know what is going on behind closed doors do we? We can see the numbers in black and white and can only speculate why this is the case.
The accounts show that the total cost of motor vehicles was £130,076.00 in the last filed accounts and 131,386.00 in the previous years accounts, so we've been paying a total of about £130k annually for cars, whoever has been driving them.
I know the person who has had to drive over to former players houses to pick up car and HOUSE / FLAT keys that they club were paying for and let them stay in until they left. Yes, you read correctly - despite the generous salaries, the club pay for accomodation for some players too. Makes you wonder exactly what they spend their salaries on eh? Wonder why these expenses werent mentioned in said HDM article....?
The flats/houses that some of the players stay in, which are at Anlaby House, are arranged and paid for by the club, but what you leads you to believe that the costs of those properties are not deducted from their salaries?
We're all waiting and hoping for developments on the Sports Village front. This article shows, to me anyway, that the Allams are not going to sleep-walk into a ****ing-over by the Dull ****ty Council. They are very aware of the value of money and aren't going to throw it away. He stated that the council was awaiting detailed plans before making up its mind. How much would a detailed plan cost? And then the Allams, having spent £££s on that, would see the council put it to a referendum, and possibly waste the family's time and money. 'Referendum' indeed! Get your finger out, Brady.
Who really needs a company car at City? Nigel Pearson Adam Pearson Commerical director Commercial manager Finance director Finance manager Steve Walsh Sales director Sales manager a couple of "pool car" a couple of offical club cars (for picking up potential signings ect) That is less then half we already have. It is ridiculous spending like this that has put us in poor finanical shape. How can people complain that we are cutting jobs when the NHS, Police, Prison, Armed Forces, Schools, Fire brigade and other key services are making sever reductions? As for the £1m "gift" to Rovers, City had a £40+m "gift"
number No, but I have noticed on KC match days we seem to have more than we need in the warm ups as some including Barmby when he is not in the playing squad seem to be hanging around on edge of tunnel near pitch with hands in track suit pockets. May be Mr Allam has noticed this as well as the high costs. Nevertheless, b4 I get throttled for mentioning Barmby, I must say he would be near the top of my list to KEEP!
