Louie, or Clarence as some of us call him, was a big star in the 60's - featured in a film and got a TV spin-off tv series .... Daktari.
She recommended a shop where I could buy some slinky underwear but my mrs but she kept falling down the stairs.
One of the other two was Gary Clarkes daughter Lucy who I thought came across like a proper 'ull lass, perfect for the job of Hull ambassador. Good luck to the fella, he seems ok but he's not from Hull, if they weren't that bothered, why didn't they asked Rosie Millard to do it, she is journalist who can also talk in sentences without the "like, you know, err " that punctuate Kofi's speaking.
Someone on Twitter today commented that it is odd that Kofi is the choice, when the main road into Hull is named after a black man from Swansea who played rugby league
It doesn't pay to miss out a page or two on a thread or just look at the newest posts like I just have here, I was intrigued on how we arrived at Clarence the cross eyed lion and traced it back to little ol' Keely , jeepers, still prefer Keely to Clarence though.
Hymers? A bastion of privilige? I lived on Bacheler St as did my cousins, one of whom went to Hymers after passing the 11+. He was hardly priviliged as one of five kids whose dad was a marine fitter at Holmes. Mind, the bugger went on to be a C of E vicar so perhaps he is priviliged, the pompous, pious sod.
Not my opinion. An observation spouted by some on here and elsewhere. Though they did have some up their own arse types there. I got sent off playing rugby there when I lobbed one of them in a lake they had there, or maybe there had been flooding,at the time. Unfortunately that was the only game our somewhat snobbish headmaster deemed worthy of his presence. Which had painful consequences on the Monday. It was a lot more snobbish in the mid-sixties. We were shown to a separate room after the game and their pupils weren't allowed to mix with us plebs.
