So, from our new owners, if we ever get any, decided to build a new stadium 18 miles outside of Hull no one would object as it's only up the road?
It's fine - he's living in Greater Hull. Besides, he'll be no diffferent to the thousands of other folk who commute into Hull to work from the ER.
Oh they missed the East Riding bit off then , didn't know there were things going on outside Hull for this
Greater Hull. ARF! No different from the thousands who travel into the East Riding for jobs other than minimum wage ones whilst the East Riding folk travel into Hull to do the more complex jobs the locals can' take do.
He was born in Beverley, but raised in Hull, attended Hymers College and Wilberforce College before going on to study English Literature & Journalism at Northumbria University. Nobody should have an issue with a lad raised in Hull, representing Hull.
An East Riding lad then. Hymers? A bastion of privilege according to many Hull folk. A shame a lad raised in Hull would rather live in Withernsea. Not a good advert for the attractions of Hull. There again quite a few people who are always banging on about Hull choose not to live there.
They were glad to help out with the things couldn't cope with, larger indoor venue (holds more in a town of less than 40,000 than the new Venue in Hull will) places to stay. The place all Amy Johnson's stuff is. A new leisure centre, built on time and within budget. There' s a novelty.
100% agree, distance is completely irrelevant. His job is to encourage people to come to Hull yet he has chosen not to do that himself.
Not sure what "can' take do" means but factually, I know that a much larger proportion ER workers travel into Hull to work (circa 30% of Hull's workforce) than vice versa. Hull workers going to work in the ER is something like 10%.of ER's workforce. I live in the ER and do as I said above. Then again though, I appreciate Hull and don't spend each given opportunity complaining about it or mocking it.
His job is to report on the events, rather than to attract people to Hull, almost all of the reporting he'll be doing is for Radio Humberside and Look North, so he'll mainly be talking to people who are already here.
I wish him well and am sure he will do a great job in his new role, a smashing lad from a really nice family. When he is in Withernsea he stays at his parents home where he grew up. By the way his Mum works as a nurse at HRI, I trust that none on here have any issues with that.
I used to think some of our best ambassadors were outsiders and our own residents were too self depricating but COC has fired up some passion from within our walls. A really great face of Hull in the national media and genuine Hull lass is Michelle Dewberry, good on Sky News The Pledge.
I just spotted the details of the ten finalists for the role, six were from Hull, two from Gilberdyke, one from Driffield and one from Withernsea.
He was raised in Hull according to OLM. His mum is another commuting into Hull then? Good on her travelling 34 miles round trip to,do her job when some think that ten minutes is too much effort. As a frequent guest of hospitals no nurse would have less than my full admiration (except one). No issues with him. Just think that they should have had somebody resident in Hull. If presentational skills were the criterion and it doesn't matter where you love they could have brought in a media pro from elsewhere.
