Ah Syd, telling porkies again. I don't get offended by anything on here, its only an internet forum afterall <sydinputdownfail>
well its only you who keeps popping up getting all offended, BTW was not trying to put you down, just giving an opinion.
This is such poor bait Syd. A man of your experience should know better by now. Even if it is only an internet forum, you get an E+ must try harder
In fairness I dont even think its true, I doubt an RAF ppilot would be that stupid. He would know the Tornado is a long range interceptor and wouldn't last 2 minutes in a dogfight situation, if he was in an F-16 or Eurofighter on the other hand its a different story altogether
you did when i mentioned your mother, you even said she was dead, i knew you were after the sympathy vote so continued only for you to admit she wasnt, now for me thats the pits, glass houses, you should be in one, at the forces pleasure
Looking forward to the horses this week Billy. Best week of the year for it. No doubt I'll be helping the bookie get wealthy.
Cheltnham festival? The Irish always seem to do well in the first two days like. Mind I gave up the nags years ago. Still have a dabble on the football though.
It is always the same when you visit Kabul in the midst of one crisis or another. The tension is palpable: security gets tighter, the police and soldiers get jumpier and the traffic gets appalling. That is where we are right now after one of the worst, most brutal incidents against Afghanistan's civilian population over the past 10 years. Many questions remain unanswered about the events of the weekend and in the ensuing silence the tension is mounting exponentially with politicians, religious leaders and the ordinary people growing ever more furious. It is making a difficult, messy passage in relations between the international community and Afghanistan even worse. The brutality of this attack by an unnamed 38-year-old American Staff Sergeant that left 16 dead in villages where Special Forces had been working to create a network of people who would oppose a takeover by the Taliban is what makes it so awful. The victims are largely women and children. The killer quietly entered their houses, waking the children, then shooting them dead and in some instances setting them on fire. This all in villages so near to a US base they will doubtless have felt some level of safety. ......................................................................................... Brutal, and will have a big impact, and no doubt more loss of lives for the UK forces to.
A lot of good work done by ISAF undone by one rogue american in one night. The repercussions don't bear thinking about !
You just can't legislate for someone being off their rocker Commachio. As you say it will have a negative impact on the others over there.
This guy's background and medical history are really scary. How he has remained a qualified sniper and squad leader is mystifying. Considering everything, this guy is a total let down of all military systems. Those he murdered can be truly be classed as Islamic martyrs.
I'm just unclear how someone like that remains in the position he did. I'd imagine they must keep tabs on psychological condition, and you can only hide so much. Who knows but it ain't going to be a relaxing few weeks for those out there. As you say, there'll be a backlash.
I am at a loss as how to respond to this news. Christ this guy must be completely unhinged FFS! The **** will fairly hit the fan now like. Another ****ing glory boy blow a gasket & 16 women & children dead. What a ****ing mess. Dear God.
an therein lies the answer, no military profession possesses the ability to **** a mind up more than being a sniper. You see it in the interviews, many have turned into cold retracted people and they will admit so themselves. Alot of psychologists would argue it is because no other military duty lets you get up close and personal to the person you have killed, most others will always have a hint of doubt as to whether it was their bullet, shell etc that killed the person but when you are a sniper you are in no doubt. They would even admit it themselves saying they almost feel like god, watching the target for hours, sometimes days, on end through the crosshairs holding that persons life in their hands the whole time only to extinguish it with the tightening of an index finger. Yup, would **** anyone up
Men get through such ****e & live with it bud. The glory boys are the most unprofessional bunch I've ever met. Still, this lad has major ****ing issues. Ask anyone who was at Tora Bora what they think of the glory boys. Nee good. Still conscripting I think.
