I joined in Jan 1984 because I didn't fancy a job down the pit. I stayed because of the lad I met and worked with. A better bunch you would never meet. I retired in 2007, while I still had time to do something else. Best 23years of my life bar none.........

RAF Tristar Captain bringing troops back from the Falklands about ten years ago.

"Morning Ladies and Gentlemen and welcome to Royal Air Force Brize Norton. It's my great pleasure to welcome you all home to Britain.
Unfortunately for any females back there. You are now officially ugly again"

This. I hate all this arrogant army chit chat. I respect what our forces do, have many mates who either serve or have served. Its just a job at the end of the day, one you take by choice. It doesn't give you a licence to go on like an arrogant bell end and somehow place you above the everyday working man. I'm sure if the Iranians wanted to blow his little aircraft out the sky, they'd find a way. They're not the bunch of backward losers our press would have you believe.

American F1-11 (Badger 12) over RAF Leeming.

Leeming tower this is Badger 12.
Badger 12 Leeming tower, pass your message.
Hey guys could I possibly use your circuit for a while as I seem to have a slight problem.
Badger 12 Leeming tower, What is the nature of your problem?
Oh nothing major, can't seem to get my wheels down!!! (at this point ATC call an emergency and all hell breaks loose)
Badger 12 Leeming tower, please adopt the callsign Pan 12 and state your intentions.
Oh I'll just hang around up here for a while and try to fix my problem, if not I may have to make a mess of your airfield...

    Coolest bloke I ever met.

Then don't f*****g read it ! And for your info Tornadoes are flown by the RAF not the Army - and conversations between warships and any other nautical body are the NAVY !

It's called having a sense of humour - and it you've never served then you're unlikely to understand or appreciate our sense of humour. Now shut the f**k up and piss off !

Well if its posted on a an internet forum, people may want to comment on that sense of humour. Guess what? They're entitled to, just as those are who find it amusing. If you can't handle that I'd get back to your knitting. As for the rest of the abusive stuff, I can only laugh at you tough guy. <laugh> Cyber warriors do entertain. I suppose your arrogance that you think you can tell people which threads to post on kind of proves the point a little about some who serve.

Hope so ! I can understand some people not getting the sense of humour (granted often black) - but to accuse people of arrogance is ridiculous ! And if you don't like the sense of humour - don't read it or bother to comment on it !

As far being "Cyber Warrior" or a "tough guy" - don't make me laugh ! Just a normal bloke who did his time and appreciates the humour !

I think it was the accusation of arrogance that really irked me !

I just found that particular slice of humour arrogant, not all forces humour. CyprusMackem posted one about landing with no wheels, I found that amusing.

Personally I don't understand anyone getting so irate about anything posted on an internet forum, but each to their own.

Don't worry Pouch mate.................it' nowt more than an internet forum debate................

We need to aquire thicker skin.....come on lad laugh it off.

Of course there i a certain amount of arrogance, there is between services, and also down to Regiment or Unit levels.

But we all pull together when needed...

Not offended by it Commachio, just commented on it. For some reason silksworth took exception with a load of expletives so I just explained the arrogance comment. I have no problem with anything they might say. I have enough mates in the forces to not get offended by just about anything really!
