Well G match stats on BBC has us with 30 shots to Denmarks 9, on target 10 to their 3. Implies we had quite a threat!.

Off the top of my head, after HT I remember Maguire having a header bound for the corner saved at full stretch, and another cancelled out for an accidental hand on Kjaer's neck, yellow card. Stones a header wide. Shaw, I think, a dangerous hard low cross just deflected for a corner, could have gone anywhere. Phillips a shot just wide of the LH post, and another way over, both from just outside the box. Grealish a hard shot straight at the Keeper. Sterling multiple runs at their goal, going past defenders, brought down for the pen. Kane scored. We were passing the ball around in as well as just outside their box, their defenders were visibly struggling to keep up and stop us.

Nearly recovered now. Cant see me drinking for a while. Had the displeasure of suffering whilst the pleasure of watching the match replay today. As i vaguely recall, sterling was superb in the opening 15 minutes, superb in the final 15 minutes of extra time and inbetween all that, he was very good. Hes been our player of yhe tournament hands down. What do you expect.....we produced him!

Can we please agree that if we discuss a topic you either reply directly to my post or call me by name so that we can have a proper conversation - thank you.

Actually I do not care about statistics in football since they bring about loads of silly figures that do no matter at all. Who needs those figures if you had watched the game and came to a conclusion about it ? Fact is - contrary to stats - that it needed a very doubtful penalty to do the job. Read the press in Italy, Spain, France, Belgium ... not to mention Denmark, everybody acknowledges that it was fully deserved to go through but they disliked the way it happened. Are all the other countries wrong about it - I guess they do have a point here.

Oh and never a penalty but watching live it definately was. Saying that, their free kick was a dubious decision also. Thats football for ya. The highs and lows.

Theres a very simple way to look at this.
Sterling went down in the area, i defy anyone to say that watching it in live time that they didnt think it was a penalty. The referee saw it that way aswell, so awarded one. As per usual, the decision is looked at by VAR. They didnt change the refs decision whether rightly or wrongly. If anyone has a grievence then it should be with VAR and nobody else. Scoring that pen changes not only our set up, tactics but mentality to go for a winner that we already have. We took Grealish off for Trippier as an example of that. We were the better team, we could have well scored a 2nd regardless.

G-hoop, if the ball ends up in the net from a free kick that was dubious, whats the difference between the ball ending up in the net from a penalty thats dubious?

I guess it must be the distance and noone in front of you apart from the goalie. The Danish goal was a genious strike (which he managed to do against Russia before). Kane was even lucky that Schmeichel tried to grab the ball.

Thats football, you say Kane was lucky that Kasper tried to grab the ball. I say that the Danes were unlucky that Kasper tried to grab the ball.

I will tell you the difference, the Danes had the benefit of VAR looking at the penalty, we werent afforded that luxury for the free kick and thats what i mean by the highs and lows of football!

That isn´t football but wrong decisions being made even though they do have all the equipment doing better. What is the point in VAR if they intervene but do not see the obvious. Well I know, there was a slight touch and that is why they couldn´t change the decision (rules). It was the refs. fault but I do not mean to blame him for that.

Sterling, who is a very good player, shouldn´t have done it this way - just my opinion.

Fair enough, football is about opinions. I personally dont think it was a penalty but the final decision lays with VAR. Its not Sterling cheating or England cheating a decision when the power to overturn it is on hand.

A wrong decisions lead to a penalty and made the winner. Some people were delighted I had my doubts.

I thought it was definitely a penalty at the time and haven't seen anything since to change my mind. It was the second contact that caused Sterling to go down and calling it a dive is ridiculous. There was a somewhat similar incident in the Belgium/Italy game where Doku got a shove when travelling at high speed. Minimal contact, but it caused him to fall over. Penalty.
