Think you've missed the point about a serious injury that I was making, maybe not clear enough but...... If a player is clearly offside but play continues so that phase of play can be completed but during that phase a player is unfortunately seriously injured obviously the ref will stop play, but the point I'm trying to make is that if the lino had flagged straight away the offside would have been given, play stopped, free kick to defending side, player not injured.......

I'd prefer going back to the human error way as officials got most decisions correct and that is what we mostly want, none of this perfect way where every decision has to be correct even though it might take 5 minutes and countless lines on a pitch and poor pixels to come to a decision...........

As I posted during the game, the hand ball against Chiellini was nonsense as had it been a defender it hit it wouldn't have been a penalty.......or a least I don't think it would be unless they've changed the interpretation again this week......
What about a scenario whereby a forward is offside, but the lino doesn't flag immediately and the play continues, resulting in a corner. The attacking team then score from the corner, but there's no VAR review because the original play didn't result in a goal?

I may have got this wrong, of course.
I think this echoes one of the original points I was ineptly trying to make.

We are talking about the minutiae of a bullshit technology system rather than the football.

Braithwaite hits the post/bar junction for Denmark- they are still going strong. Jensen just wide.

Bad luck Oslo, let that game slip away, one man made the difference
I was pretty neutral about who won it, but de Bruyne certainly helped Belgium even if perhaps he wasn't fully fit. They have a lot of really good players. I thought Damsgaard looked very good for the Danes, apart from his dive.

De Ligt, a marvellous player, back for the Dutch tonight. Shame for them van Djik isn’t available to play alongside him. Always like the Dutch, even when they are fighting each other, the Ajax and national teams of the seventies who directly influenced Jago, Venables, Bowles and Sexton at the Rs are what football is about for me.

De Bruyne is looking like a player who could hold down a place in any team in history. Incredible player.

I see the Jocks are down in force already, Euston Road was awash with Saltires, kilts and C U Jimmy lookalikes this afternoon. Rumoured to be heading for Hyde Park tomorrow and around 20,000 estimated to be wandering in town...

Ohh call for a penalty for Dutch.....Ref having a look a screen.....

On first viewing looked a dive, second look foul and penalty awarded.......

Well taken penalty.....1-0 Dutch

Dutch closing Austria down very quickly in their own half and winning ball back in dangerous areas........

Somehow Austria have got to slow this down a bit and move the ball around a bit to get some control.......the only problem is that the Dutch aren't giving them any time on the ball.........

You can't say a bad word about Denmark. What a fab lot of fans (especially that blond who was looking at me :emoticon-0115-inlov) What a respectful lot. :emoticon-0150-hands I might visit at some point.
