Agreed - The Germans have not been great (by their standards) so far, but have still looked better than England
Trouble is the Germans have already shown they can compete with France, the tournament favourites, out score Portugal and come back twice from behind to draw with a decent Hungary and in doing so have scored 6 goals. Their main issue is the 5 goals they concede. Meanwhile England have shown in 3 games they can score 2 goals having played 3 average sides and that they struggle to score against a highly motivated side. Yes we haven't conceded, but attacking wise we've been poor. Can we out score the Germans, doubtful. Can we stop them from scoring, maybe. What odds on a 0 - 0 draw with us going out on penalties.
I think it's hard to judge England because we have been so conservative in the tournament so far. Once we score, we basically try to manage the game rather than score more, and we've done that well. The question is whether there is an extra gear which we will need when we finally play a decent team.
Never underestimate the Germans. I will watch it before I go to a giant work meeting in the morning... I hope I don't have to present (I was told I might) because I'll probably fall asleep whilst talking.
Given that you'll be watching England, there's a good chance you'll fall asleep well before your meeting starts. My advice is to set your alarm for the final whistle ...........
I'll watch a replay first thing without watching any news, but yes if it's like the Croatia game in the world cup it could be something I regret watching in the morning haha
Modern football is so confusing. Braithwaite plays for Denmark, O'Shaughnessy plays for Finland, Fred plays for Brazil. It's really hard for an old man like me to keep up.
And on the subject of names, how the hell can you have a forward named Immobile? It's like having a goalkeeper named Oops.
