Despite my affections for Athletic Bilbao in this tournament, I feel Borussia will get to the final, Spurs and Liverpool will progress to the later stages, and now that Valencia and Sevilla are in the more familiar surroundings of the EL, expect those to progress as well.
That post just shows that there are some real quality teams in a tournament that so many people regard as being ****. I personally think it's a great cup. Add to the fact the winners get a CL spot just makes it more worthwhile to do well in. I personally think Borussia will win it, if I were a betting man I'd put my money on them for sure.
It becomes interesting at this stage. The group stages are tedious though. As it goes I don't think the CL teams should be entered into the Europop at the first knock out round. It's rewarding failure.
Borussia v Liverpool in the final eh? 50 years after they played each other in the Cup Winners' Final! Having said that, it is the Spanish clubs that have the best record in this tournament. At the moment, Villareal are the best of the EL bunch and could go far. Do not underestimate them.
