The free could've referred to something else - Wayne Rooney is to play in a free role for example.

Just cannot seem to get excited about this Euros, and not just cos England are pants. Albania v Switzerland sums this euros up perfectly, what is the point. Too many teams, too hard to NOT get through the group stages, tournament proper won't feel like it's started for about 2 1/2 weeks.

I totally disagree, the amount of teams in it is what I'm looking forward to. I'm old enough to remember when just 8 teams qualified and everyone - everyone - said "Oh wouldnt it be great if X and Y were here?". The only team of worth missing now are the Dutch and they lost out fair and square so its tough titties. Its only every four years and now feels like a true festival of football rather than a short interlude. It'll be great.

 

Switzerland are a good team, bit harsh. Got to the knockouts of the World Cup 2 years ago and went out to the Argies in extra time, ranked 15th in the World (9th in Europe).

Albania beat Denmark and Serbia to qualification, both decent sides, so they aren't to be taken lightly. They also beat Portugal in their group.

All of the teams in the tournament are in the top 50 in the FIFA Rankings.

I'm looking forward to it massively. These supposed minnow teams add an extra element which makes it a bit more unpredictable and exciting. As BCC said, the only major nation to miss out was the Dutch.

 

14/1 on us not to concede in the group stages. Very generous odds imo

 

I'd be amazed if we go all 3 games with no goals conceded. Think Wales will definitely score against us.
