Where did I say that I disagreed with his comments, I merely said that the same thing was said in the early eighties and at that time comments around how the PC technology would give us all more free time. I acknowledge that technology has both lost jobs and created jobs. I think all I said was technology changes the employment landscape.
You then went on to somehow turn Carney's comments into a belief at the next big change will be autonomous vehicles. Again, you, not me used UBER and delivery companies to back up your claims. That's fine, if that's what you believe.
I challenged you on this and believe we are further away from this technology than you think. I also challenged you on your ever changing views on what autonomous vehicles will look like. My third challenge was how this would practically work, with an infrastructure that cannot support fully autonomous vehicles in the U.K. I also gave you plenty of examples which you dismissed. IMO, taxis and delivery vehicles have to be the most difficult modes of transport to fully automate.
At no point did I say that the technology was fully mature. My background is electrical / electronic engineering, so I know better than most what a fast moving sector it is. I did claim, and I stand by these claims, that driverless vehicles have been around in some form or other for the last 30 years, something that you again dismissed as irrelevant. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the transistor!
There may have been lots of posts, but at no time was it a rant on my part, again another assumption you have incorrectly made. I do however get the impression that you don't like to be challenged?
I don't have a crystal ball, so won't comment on what may happen in the next 5 years. What I do know is that this technology isn't new, it's improving every day I grant you that, but based on what's happened in the past, I won't be putting any money on fully autonomous vehicles, being a regular sight on roads in the U.K.any time soon.

I don't believe in democracy, if I'm being honest. It's the biggest lie that has ever been sold to anybody.

What is democracy? Fairness for all, giving everybody a say in everything, letting people decide things for themselves?

Why oh why, do we then try and force democracy on other nations? We hear that the middle east needs democracy. They need it, and would be much better with it. How? Why are we imposing it on to other nations? When they don't want it, we then go ahead and try to bomb it into them. It goes against everything democracy is supposed to be about.

Democracy, when allowing everybody to have a vote, on everything. Doesn't work. Nobody can agree on anything, and everything then descends into chaos. Like we are seeing, in this country and in the USA. People did not get the result they wanted, and took to the streets to riot.

    Democracy doesn't work.

May has bent over (again) very quickly. The support amongst the Tories for Labour's motion must have spooked her. If they lose the by election on Thursday she may well **** herself <laugh>

It shows the degree that illegality was considered, as do the authors that link refers to, and plenty of others. The wider society, particularly in London had plenty of gay brothels.

You'll no doubt burble on to try to cover up the embarrassing ignorance that caused you to jump in. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Nice try Dull but you'll have to get someone else to fill your evening for you.

Maybe you could argue that the Middle East has a liberal view of homosexuality <laugh>

We had free movement of people in the commonwealth from 1948 after Labour introduced the nationality act.

800 million people had freedom of movement.....

The Victorians being cool with homosexuality is one of your best yet <laugh>

Fair comment. I doubt many people would enjoy your life. Getting up the stairs must be hard work.

It, and a pride in their ignorance is about all they've got. It's just a way of trying to bury posts that show their limitations. :emoticon-0102-bigsm
