The strategic approach unfortunately likely means helping to reinstate a mass murdering dictator, there's no winning either way

After sauce Hollande-ais gobbing off about what the EU will and won't
do with the UK on negotiations, it will be nice if the judicial wrangling pushes
the date out that article 50 will be invoked has maximum overlap with the France
    election campaign.

I've not missed the point at all.

It's a meaningless soundbite with no credible policies or evidence to back it up. The reasons for buying it are irrelevant, IMO. The fact that people did buy it, without asking any questions, is rather sad.

But then, as Trump himself said, 'Republicans are the dumbest voters in America'

And he's spot on. My American friends assure me that if Hitler reappeared as a Republican presidential candidate, the majority of the dyed in the wool Republicans would vote for him!....

Another great comeback. I have already apologised for the spelling mistakes. For some reason I do not have the edit facility on my phone.

However, standard response. When unable to provide any meaningful reply, look for something else to blame.

You can see my reply to pieguts. The point is that the large core of the American electorate is extremely partisan.

There are millions who would never vote democrat, and vice versa. Policies hardly come into it.

You say you haven't missed the point and then go on to say something else which doesn't reply to what I said at all.
I can't seem to post links via my phone but have a read on the BBC website at the article which is titled "why Hilary lost". It does cover my points (along with some trust issues directed at Hilary) and why it's change people want.

Once again, I have not missed the point. I just don't buy it.

Hilary lost because the electorate didn't trust her, and had had enough of the Clintons.

I would have thought that the very closeness of the vote shows that much of the electorate has no great love for Trump. Any half way credible democrat candidate would have pissed it, IMO.

The reasons are precisely what the election result is all about.
Those who either refuse to attempt / do not seek to understand the reasons,
can look forward to this result being repeated soon enough in same/similar guise.

If you're not happy with what you've got, don't you think any sensible person would look and question the proposed alternative a bit more closely than the vast majority of the electorate seems to have questioned Trump?

The ones who did not look were the American electorate.

Perhaps they haven't heard the one about the frying pan and the fire?..

I think Trump will get the wall built
I don't think he will ban muslims because there aren't attacks by crazy muslims in USA now
I think he will deport illegal immigrants - but isn't that what a country is supposed to do?

Do you think he will get Mexico to pay for it?
If it does get built, it will be at the US taxpayers expense.
First thing most of his cabinet will do if they have any sense, is tell him what a ****ing stupid idea that was and get him to procrastinate like **** on that little campaign promise.

If so much of the electorate is prepared to "buy" this stuff, don't you think any
sensible politnik would attempt to understand the reasons why and change tact
so that the electorate have no desire to do so ??

USA gave Mexico $420m in aid in 2013 - the latest figures available. He'll take it from that money if they don't pay.

How can he take it from that money if he has already given it to them?
You mean he will take it out of future aid?
If I was Mexico i'd tell him to go ahead.
Not like Mexico can expect a lot of financial aid from a Trump led US anyway.

    No, in short.

The choice was between two of the worst candidates that America has managed to produce, even in their long history of producing totally unfit presidents. That was the choice the electorate was given.

The popular vote was 48%-47% so by a fine margin America rejected Clinton marginally more than they rejected Trump.

In my view, America has had enough of political dynasties, and enough of the Clintons.
