Yes a Conservative controlled government that you had a choice in voting for.
Assuming you are over 18 and are not a guest of her majesty.

Actuaries, despite the joke that it's a profession for people who find accountancy too racy, are supposed to anticipate future trends. They are supposed to measure and mitigate future risk.

Yes, none of them seems to have anticipated this prolonged period of low interest rates. Or given much account to the fact that human lifespan is increasing rapidly in developed countries.

Hence the problems with pension funds being unable to fulfill the majority of final salary based schemes.

Even the laws of the UK differentiate between parts of the country with different economies and a rational set of world laws could do the same.
In case of doubt I think this is a long-term goal but facilitated by supra-national bodies like the EU which we should see as a step along the way, not a threat.

Oh and the UK isn't leaving Europe, it is leaving the EU, which isn't a sovereignty

As soon as you reach agreement with another country on any matter, then you can no longer unilaterally pass a law over-turning that and need a supra-national body to police the agreement. That's all the EU is!

It's a misnomer. Europe is a geographical region of the globe. The U.K. can hardly leave it!...

But I get the same chance to vote for a European Parliament so why is that different?

And yet people still say it :)
Put comparing the UK leaving the EU to say, Scotland seceding from the UK is a faulty metaphor.
The EU is not a sovereignty, its a Union, there is a HUGE difference.

I dont see how you will decide on one amount for unemployment benefit for both the UK and Malawi. Malawi would never be able to afford what the UK would want to pay.

All of them on the principle that we didn't write them? Even if there's nothing that we'd want to alter?

As for unelected, how so? We elected our MEP's and they sat in Brussels with the MEP's from the other 27 states, who were also elected by their own electorates.

The employment law legislation was agreed between the 28 states and their MEP's, how is that either not democracy?

It doesn't really matter if we get a free trade deal with the EU unless we also negotiate a customs union. That is the driving force in intra-EU trade.

The European Parliament can't table legislation.

The major difference is that the UK has much more control over Scotland's laws than the EU has over the UKs. Therefore any advantage of gaining control for the UK leaving Europe must also apply to Scotland leaving the UK

Do you mean the amount that the Tories would like to pay or the amount reasonable people would like to pay.

It is completely different, we only get a say in voting for our MEP, not the entire governing body.
