What if supply is above demand for unskilled jobs? What if demand is above supply for a particular skilled profession?

Did I say just EU migrants?

I don't know, but I don't approve of that either.
Again, I didn't directly refer to just EU migrants.

Also I should point out, that EU Immigrants make up about 10% of NHS doctors and nurses.
So in short, without EU workers, the NHS would be ****ed.

This thread is called "The EU debate", we are discussing the impact that our EU membership has on immigration and why people voted out based on immigration. <doh>

Of the 327K immigrants that arrived here you will find less than 100K are skilled (random guess), so 227k and be told to sod off.
So much less impact on the infrastructure.

We have plenty of unskilled workers, make the unemployed work or lose benefits.

If we need more skilled workers then allow more in but also the business must take on UK people to train them up.

Given the discussion is about Brexit and we're discussing EU migration then what relevance is that?

Oh and I love the source btw, a Tory lead 'research' organisation. That report was plastered all over the Tory press and they've used a whole host of assumptions in coming up with that figure.

EU migrants make a net contribution to our economy - fact

Waiting lists for social housing in this country are huge country wide. There are homeless people everywhere. At this time we shouldn't be taking immigrants from anywhere that need social housing.CHARITY should begin at home.

Because the EU doesn't exist in a bubble, particularly so on a discussion about immigration.

Tell the 'nimbys' who don't want any housing built near them. The country is full of them!

And current laws allow these people to hold up the building of badly needed housing by months or years!

    333k net immigration in 2015

    167k students

Leaves 166k of which 43% are from the EU

So the net increase in population accounted for by EU citizens was 71k in 2015

60% of migrants in unskilled work are non EU migrants btw.

It's relevant because if we're going to talk about immigration then you have to talk about all of it. We can't be prejudiced now, can we?
