Perhaps the level of debate would improve if people did not keep posting ridiculous memes or pictures of straw bales on here. They add nothing to any points you may be trying to explain.

So you'd be happy with no decrease in net immigration?

I'll get the one poster who's not on ignore to ask Pete the same question when he appears

If some arse holes stopped trying to create strawmen, there'd be no need.

Tell them, don't shoot the messenger. <ok>

Nobody voted to leave the EU and make immigration controls weaker, so I've no idea why you'd even suggest it.
That still wouldn't be weaker border controls. It would be weaker immigration controls.

Could you stop nitpicking and dodging and actually argue some points, please?
You seem to want this to be completely fruitless.

Pete's reply when you tried this before was similar to my view. If it's they add to the system here, they're more than welcome.

Immigrants under the existing scheme are welcome too. I don't blame them for bettering themselves and getting out of mainland Europe.

You're stuck on this value statement for an immigration policy. I've explained why I don't agree.

I'll happily discuss points I've raised. I'm less inclined to discus points you claim I've raised when I haven't.

You're struggling because you have the wron understanding of what I posted. Trying to make your view fit doesn't add much to the conversatile.

Meanwhile, in the real world, this whole farce seems to be degenerating faster than it would appear.

The one thing that will cripple the economy - even more so than a collapsing currency, is lack of investment.

At the time of the last budget the OBR predicted a rise in business investment of 2.6% this year and 6.1% for next year. They are currently running the numbers for the chancellor's Nov 23rd budget speech. However, there was a forecast last week by the EY item club, who use the Treasury model for the economy. They are predicting a 1.5% drop for this year, and 2.3% drop for next yr.

That is a massive negative turnaround.

There has always been a worry that should the UK vote to leave whether it could still be attractive to foreign investors. It seems likely now that the only foreign investment coming will be in the form of snapping up what are seen as bargain basement assets, due to the weakness of Sterling. Otherwise, the U.K. Appears to have virtually no appeal left at all.

So there's no issue with free movement if those arriving contribute to the economy?

You made your point with one picture. Continually posting them is boring and childish, which is what you seem to be accusing others of.

It is true that wanting a change to border control policies, or even stronger border control policies, do not equate to "racism", for a start everyone in Europe is the same race as us, there are no predominantly "black" countries in Europe, so lets dispel that myth, its xenophobia at best.
Its common sense that a countries economy is finely tuned to its relative wealth, the amount of people in said country, and its tax laws.
To introduce, for example, an extra 1,000,000 people to that economy is going to have ramifications one way or another.
I have always been of the opinion, that overall, immigration has been a good thing for the UK, and I believe the stats back that opinion.
Will there also be bad eggs that come in? Yes! Of 1,000,000 of any sort of people, regardless of race, religion, nationality, gender etc, there are going to be a section of them that are arseholes.
Have people from other countries taken advantage of the relative freedoms our culture offers in order to carry out crime? Yes!
But we have plenty of English criminals too.

Anyone who wants to leave the EU so we have less foreigners, quite frankly, is a ****ing moron.
I am still of the opinion that any government that gambles their countries economy over a non issue such as immigration will not be in power long.
I even heard idiots on TV and radio saying that they wanted to leave the EU to stop muslims coming to England. <doh>

Yes we pay some immigrants benefits, though no where near as much or as many as we used to. And besides, if the government focused on the real issue, tax evasion, it would negate the amount we pay out in benefits ten fold.

I was responding to a post in which you labelled me an arsehole, you daft ****

Nice deflection away from me making a **** out of you yet again though. A strawman argument, that was in fact a question.

How can I be wrong in knowing what my view is? Do you not see how you look a tad pompous with comments like that?
