Just booked a tour guide for one day of our Rome trip next week. Comically expensive as the naughty Italians haven't adjusted their prices to compensate for the plummeting pound. Someone needs to remind them that we won the war.

I was listening to Radio 4 earlier today and an interview with a CEO of a big US venture capital business. He was asked what he thought about the view that Brexit projections are all just 'scare mongering' and he replied that you just have to take the emotions out of it and look at the facts. The markets have lost confidence and triggering brexit will further compound that. His company have NO plans to invest in the UK now and neither do others. He said they will simply put their money somewhere else where it will perform.

Neither! That was caused by the global economic crisis and what's called a flight to liquidity. I.e. To the major, most traded and thus most liquid currencies, such as the dollar and the Euro.

This is completely different. This, as I've said, is a global expression of no confidence in our chosen path!

I share that lack of confidence!.....

It's like watching a slow motion car crash, mate. You know what the end result is going to be, but are powerless to stop it!...

Much easier on a short trip. They drive you round the sites, no queuing to get in anywhere (ever queued at the Vatican, that's a day itself), activities for the kids...all makes for a much more productive trip.

Surely when you go abroad you just look for the nearest Irish pub and park yourself there watching Only Fools and Horses.

Personally I don't give a **** about this 'brexit means brexit' bollocks. The referendum was a sham, based on a bunch of lies. The economic fall out is too much plough head long into it knowing what will happen. I think May triggering Article 50 should be blocked. Legally she needs Parliament to agree to it and I believe that there is a judicial review planned to make sure that MPs get a vote on it.

Yes, I've been following it for quite some time.

It's a constitutional issue concerning royal prerogative. It will almost certainly go to the Supreme Court for a final judgement.

Will it stop Brexit? Highly unlikely, IMO. Will it delay it if it's in any way successful? Almost certainly.

Which with important GEs in both Germany and France next year would not be a bad thing..

Actually I think I've won that battle. Vatican from the outside only. I found it boring last time. We'll focus on all the ancient Roman stuff, the kids will like that. Amazing city.

The majority have been fooled, and have got it entirely wrong.

The U.K. May eventually recover from this, but it will take many, many years, possibly decades. Maybe never!...

All this turmoil and uncertainty, and for what?...

I'm up for MPs and the Supreme court putting the skids under it so that it effectively doesn't happen in any meaningful way. I think the best scenario would be a brexit deal being scrutinised by parliament and the terms of the negotiations voted on by the house. Make a deal where we get full access to the single market and **** the immigration bollocks, our economy is far more important. Small minded tosspots might moan about the foreigners 'taking our jobs' and 'filling our hospitals' but there won't be any ****ing jobs or NHS anyway if the economy goes to the wall.
