I've been to Europe by plane and train recently and they were always checked properly. Years ago I went by ferry on foot and nobody checked other than somebody was watching the passengers who some waved their passports and others didn't. I have also been by ferry in a car but I can't remember what happened. Journeys by plane and train a long time ago were always checked properly.

So your prime motive in the referendum was concerns about immigration even though you don't live in area that is affected by immigration at all.

    Genius

    Which town is it btw?

To be clear, there is totally free movement between those countries who are members of the Schengen Agreement. That's their choice.

The UK. Is not, and never has been part of that agreement.

I haven't arrived in the UK other then by plane for a while now, but passports are always thoroughly checked either biometrically, or manually at airports.

As Paul has said, all your personal information is encypted into your passport nowadays. We'd probably be amazed at what they know about us!

So why have so many come here who are convicted rapists etc and still allowed here to live?

Custard, the odd one always gets through. But as has been said, there's more rapists and murderers on your doorstep than slipping through immigration.

Will it be harder for our murderers and rapists to flee to the Costas? Will we see a net increase in murderers and rapists? Is migration hugely necessary in our ageing and inadequately skilled population which is far more important than a Daily Mail reaction of 'if we don't close the borders, a Romanian Muslim gypsy will move in next door and rape my family in their sleep'?

Well if people really care so much about all these murderers and rapists flooding in (where are they?), it's important to consider those flooding out.

Of course, there are negligible numbers of either and it's a stupid argument to distract from the real debate.

I dont think anybody is saying we shouldn't have immigrants that we want to have in the country. We don't want immigrants that are not good for the country and that includes criminals and terrorists. Why shouldn't we keep them out? Whether our criminals leave the country is a totally different issue.
Of course the Remainers don't seem to be clever enough to understand the argument.
