Given we're leaving the EU, what do some hope to achieve by trying to put a negative spin on things?

The economy is only one part of the bigger issue. Quite a few voted leave as a '**** off' to the so called experts, that expect to be believed despite a record of creating recessions and poverty due to not being very good at what they're supposed to do, so bleating on about the economy with quotes from the people who destroyed industry, pensions and mortgages doesn't work in any event.

Isn't it better to accept things as they clearly are, and join everyone else in moving to a whole new positive world?

I'm intrigued as to what people expect as an outcome from just bleating 'we're doomed'.

And when Mrs HIAG is wearing the strapon she bought from you, she counts you as her best customer too.

I merely sold her the strap-on. It's HIAG who should be worried about that

Actually, a lot of these so-called "experts" are economists.

1. They don't seem to lose their jobs when they get it wrong (if you can actually measure their
predictive accuracy - re our friend Mr Tetlock) .

2. And the damage they seem capable of doing is ...

"I'm intrigued as to what people expect as an outcome from just bleating 'we're doomed'."

Doom itself.
The financial sector is renowned for being able to create negative self-fulfilling prophecies
when the possible outcomes are unclear (or actually do not even come to pass) .

From what i've read recently i assume most remainers were up for the brexit but just
not right now??........ Thing is when would there have been another referendum?...
Probably not for a while.........

So much for experts, I reckon the ask uninteresting Stan and NSIS for advice.

The work Tetlock has done is quite damning on this front.
As football supporters, some of us are happy to argue the toss on OptaStats etc about players,
but where is the equivalent for these so-called "experts" ??

You need the ones who are good on their predictions to be getting maximum exposure to the
electorate, and those who are just vox-pop oxygen thieves to just wither and die.

Surely you appreciate that "I told you so" is the foundation for all Internet discussion forums?!

That's not to say I will revel in anyone doing a <doh> when they lose their job because they voted for something they didn't understand.

Picture this, a graphic design studio in the Midlands...

MD: "Things have been looking increasingly tough since the referendum. Contracts are on hold so we're going to have to lay some people off. Who can we get rid of quickly?"

FD: "The obvious cull is that weird guy on the second floor. You know the one I mean, he wears a white anorak with a pointy hood."

MD: "I think so, he's always got a Daily Mail tucked under one arm and a Daily Expeess tucked under the other when he goes for his mid morning recreational?"

FD: "That's him, he's no team player, he refused to take part in the office Christmas party when he found out Mohammed from Accounts was in charge of it."

MD: "So we can get rid with the minimum of fuss?"

FD: "Absolutely, he's been with us on an Outreach programme for five years and the fact is he's still doing work that an intern would find unchallenging."

MD: "OK bin him off and call the University of Bucharest to get a replacement."

---

Now when this happens, I won't laugh, I will arrange a whip round to raise a fiver. Because Stan is a nice guy.

But the ones that could claim "I told you so" are NOT the remainians predicting doom and gloom. They git it wrong.

That's the point, they continue to spout doom and gloom despite all the evidence being that they keep on getting it wrong.

Ignoring that though (as I'm sure they will) What purpose does simply bleating "we're doomed" achieve?

Thats why I have more than one skill, aslo I Freelance, so your pointless post fails again.
Best thing is you need security clearance to do a lot of what I do, so you must be a British national.

Keep fishing, uninteresting Stan

We'll have to agree to disagree on what is actually happening out there. The data says bad the Daily Mail says good. Everyone's entitled to believe their own source.

<laugh>

I reckon Mark Carney has been security cleared.

How about the IMF?

And over and above that, the question is, what purpose does bleating 'we're doomed' serve?

1. Call Barratt and haggle over Nine Elms Point. You'll win.

2. I've said SD had an impact, Brexit magnified it (read my post)

3. They're out of NAMA by the end of the year and can comfortably cover their outstanding debts. Embassy Gardens phases I and II sold very well. They appraised the site at c£650psf blended and have sold for as high as £1300psf blended. You'll get a deal on Phase III though. Nine Elms in general is a mess. I doubt Grand South, which was bought for an inflated land price by an oligarch at the back end of last year, will break ground for years. Back to Ballymore, schemes like West Hampstead Square also made them a fortune. The deal they did with Oxley on Royal Wharf was brilliant. Oxley bought the site and immediately appointed Ballymore as DM and JV partner. Debt cleared, risk gone, profit ahead! After the initial pain it actually suited them to be in NAMA hence the slow withdrawal. There's no savvier developer in the market than Sean Mulryan, he always wins in the end. They also have a significant land bank that they can build or sell.

4. Not in general in London which is the area I've been discussing

5. Yeh, they're really not but you keep believing what the sales agents are telling the press. Then take one of them for a beer and ask them what's really going on! I go back to Foxton's ****ty results which speak volumes.

6. This is my own point: so what is your role in the property industry Cock?

I was fairly certain you would mention 9 Elms :p Barratt tried to cling onto Ballymore's shirt tails after the success of EG phase 1 and have got caught out (again) as you can only polish a turd so much. Generally speaking it is usual to be able to haggle a discount from any developer though.

It's all about the SD. The press are using Brexit to rehash old news.

Phase 3 is ridiculously over priced. Again, nothing to do with Brexit, simply naivety on behalf of someone senior within Ballymore. WHSQ isn't the profit maker you might think, especially now that it is running a year late and there is a protracted legal battle just started with their contractor. I can't elaborate on the RW/Oxley deal as it is somewhat sensitive. Ballymore's landbank is a tiny fraction of what it was prior to 2008/9. Galliard being a major beneficiary of the sell-off. Trust me when I say that Ballymore are from from comfortable financially as the current round of redundancies will testify to. I've known Sean for some 20 years and won't disagree with your assessment of him. He is a slightly warmer version of Pidgley lol

No point arguing about micro areas of the property market as it can vary tremendously from street to street, yet alone town to town.

My role is varied and of long standing, mainly in the Canary Wharf area.

As for Foxtons. Hated those cnuts ever since one of them reversed their puke green mini into my car and wrote it off. I'm still getting dodgy calls from accident claim companies 3 years later! <grr>:steam:<wah>

Did you miss my comment about "I told you so" being the foundation of Internet discussion forums?

What's the point in bleating about the latest formation/starting XI chosen by your club's current manager? He's not going to change it because some **** in Mitcham with two kitchens isn't happy about it.
