When I was a student and when I was much younger we used to wind up irritating tourists. One of our favourites was to tell them that is was customary to haggle with cabbies. That is was expected. 'Don't take any notice of what his meter says, haggle with him, he'll enjoy it!"

Unfortunately, we never got to actually see the end result of one of these tourists trying to barter with a London cabbie.

I remember once taking a cab from Marble Arch to Paddington I got out and paid the £3:60 fare plus 40p tip. Cheeky bugger said "40p what an insult. I asked what do you usually get? He replied "80p" I said I wouldn't dream of insulting you twice!

You've pretty much summed it up. Why the rush? Stop staring at the pavement/sidewalk and it's OK to smile occasionally!

I visit often due to a family member living there and I find in general they are lodged firmly up their own arses (including the family member). As with every part of the country though there are always nice people my experience is very much a general observation.

Is it accurate, is bloombum always right, looks like an article straight out of the Guardian to me.
Seems like a standard article, its a protest vote etc etc, as Brexit has not started yet, nothing has changed, except no doom and gloom and no WW3. Just a drop in currency value, which will raise in time.

If you say so, custard. Try reading the article, there are quotes from actual working people who all voted for Brexit.

Let's say Bloomberg is only about 100% more accurate than your favourites, The Excess & The Fail.

Difficult to sympathise with people like that. They were suckered and voted for something they didn't take the time to understand and are now disappointed that there's no chance of getting what they thought they'd voted for but on a personal level life is going to be the same/a little ****ter for them. Their kids must be so grateful to have such wise parents! <laugh>

Take Two Kitchen Pete as an example. He thought the Romanians were all going to be deported overnight (but not his Polish wife). What actually happened? He got a Remain PM and the value of his slum is decreasing.

Agreed, Stan. However, it shows the level of disaffection there is in some places where they'll vote for almost anything because they think it's got to be better than what they've got now!

The information is readily available for anyone to research. They chose not to. They listened to lies and were happy to believe them. Where's your £350m a week extra now?

There's a reason why people like Farage target the simple, weak minded and lazy. Trump's doing the same in the US. Are there enough Kustards around for him to win? We'll find out in November.

I have read it, its just like reading a Guardian article, "Lets do an article from the perspective on one unemployed bloke and make it facked shall we" says King custard.
    Anyone can use speech marks.

The bloke is more pissed off with London than the Brexit vote.

So we can conclude Bloombum is just as bad as the Guardian (not the money articles, they do see quite good)

I agree with that. What I was trying to show was that some of these people seem to have given up all hope and would vote for the devil - some might say they have in Nige! - so long they thought there might be a chance of a better life.
It's a sad attitude, I agree, but I guess sometimes, in places like that, you look around and feel there's no hope.

You really are a crass idiot, aren't you? I've tried to talk reasonably with you, but you're so ****ing dense that you just see what you want to see.

The whole point of the article, you numbskull, was to go to these disaffected regions where they voted for Brexit heavily to find out their reasons for doing so, and how they feel about it now.

To be fair you didn't know until it was explained to you yesterday that Brexit hasn't happened yet. However, some of the aftershocks of the referendum have. The GBP has tanked. I know that doesn't impact you as you live, work and holiday within one square mile of where you were born but it has had an impact on other people. It has also been made clear to some of the people who were duped that the promises they were made were actually lies and won't happen in their lifetime. Other people who were duped are still believers and expect anyone not born in the UK to have their British passports revoked and/or be deported.

Asking one bloke is not really a barometer of an entire region is it.
Go back to sunning yourself up and take your Bloombum with you.

You were asking for bad news about Brexit yesterday. I explained that Brexit hasn't started yet. You should be grateful that you get a free education on here Kustard!

Most people would have given up on you by now or at least put you in the remedial group!

Your pidgin English does seem to be improving though.

I stand corrected on the pidgin English.

    Is English your second language?
