Not correct, I often had containers with up to 100 different products with various rates of duty. Once each code is loaded onto the FF’s system it is easy peasy.

Let’s face it people like yourself don’t want it to work for purely political reasons. Let them do their worst we will eventually overcome the obstructive nonsense.

You are desperately scraping the barrel trying to find potential problems which you hope become real. In my experience British businesses soon find answers to problems. If the French mirror your attitude they will no doubt create some short term issues.
 
I built a few sandcastles when I was young, looking forward to getting the contract for the next big London skycraper <cool>

If the infrastructure is not in place businesses can not perform however hard they try. I am a realist, someone used to facing problems and finding ways around them. The leader of the Kent County Council is demanding that police from all over the country are sent to his county because he is trying to prevent the chaos that he can see coming. Seems as if he is a realist to. There are no problems this side of the Channel. Systems have been updated, inspection areas built and staff employed. You cannot provide these as there is not the space in Dover. You have chosen to bring these problems upon yourself. If it ain't broke leave it as it is.
 
Interesting to see that, in the absence of political threads, that this thread has become the 'home' for Brexit debate ! I honestly cannot say what the consequences of Brexit will be for the environment or for Co2 reduction. What I can say is that most people in the EU are sick of hearing about what the newest crises are in the UK - they have better things to be doing, and many more important issues to be dealt with. Brexit has been a massive distraction - which has allowed Britain to take up the role of the black sheep of Europe (which some other countries find a convenient distraction). Many other problems have slipped under the radar in the process - Germany's Co2 balance for example - still polluting the rest of Europe with the scale of open cast mining, the absolute refusal of Merkel to tackle the car lobby, the fact that Co2 emissions in Germany are going up instead of down, their export/import balance which is harming the rest of Europe, and their position as the World's 4th biggest weapons exporter. We should be discussing all these within the context of EU law. But no - all we get is Brexit, Brexit, Brexit.

If it takes all day for the French to check two lorries then there are manufactured problems. I have explained why, with honest endeavour, there is no reason for long delays.
The UK voted to leave the EU, democracy dictates we should follow this decision.

Clearly if the rest of the EU are fed up with Brexit they should refuse to grant an extension past 31st October.

Woah there - did you just say Germany is the world's fourth biggest weapons supporter? How the hell did that happen? That's not a pop - and I am embarrassed at our position in the table - but I'm stunned.

It was not intended to become the home for Brexit debate cologne. I have always tackled one problem at a time, and tried to find an answer before moving on to the next problem. I really am concerned about the lorries stacking up in Kent. There was an interesting news report I watched recently showing that in a busy street, every time there was a set of traffic lights, the CO2 emissions rise dramatically. The thought of heavy lorries basically idling when they try to keep their cargo cool, or even moving at ten miles a day is quite frightening.
I am maybe lucky that the French news makes little comment on Brexit. I did notice that there was a selection of newspaper headlines from around the world on the BBC site today asking if the UK was still sane. When Russia reckons the country looks like something from Monty Python, you know you have lost the plot.
Your comments re-Germany are quite valid as I understand it, but you are speaking from a situation of dealing with things that are actually happening. Currently the UK still has a sizeable number of people who seem to be believing in the lies spun in 2016 of everyone being sent their own unicorn to keep as a pet. Yes we should be discussing these issues within the context of EU law, but it is sad that the UK says it wants to set its own standards, and not work with others to improve the planet.

Unfortunately that is the case Dan. Germany makes a great deal of its pacifism but the other side of the coin doesn't make good reading. I feel ashamed to be paying taxes to a government which sells arms to the likes of Saudi. When we see so many refugees we always forget where the weapons which devastated their homelands were produced. According to the latest statistics Germany is behind Russia, China and the USA in terms of weapons exports - just ahead of Britain and France.

There is nothing to prevent the UK from having higher standards than the EU. I would expect once the UK joins the vast majority of countries in the world that can decide its own priorities there will be every opportunity to cooperate fully with it’s neighbours.

There are some that would like to act like Russia and deny the UK its democratic processes. Thankfully the project fear lies put out by the remainers have proved to be laughably dud.

Yeah people forget who made and sold the weapons when it comes to refugees. And then many expect the poor sods to rebuild what we've collectively helped destroy rather than give them safe haven. All very depressing. Until we learn to respect the value of human life and realise that the person selling a bullet is as bad as the one who fired it we will never move on.

You could have higher standards, or align yourself with the USA that seems to be determined to go against the rest of the world on environmental issues. Seeing as you appear to want to be another state of the USA, I suspect that you will do as you are told.

No, I would like the UK to be an independent nation like the vast majority in the world, not much to ask for. You seem to be in the minority in France with any confidence in Brussels. Even Macron said France would vote to be an independent country again if given the chance.

There's a lot of public appetite to change things environnentally and that's brilliant - SH spoke of ditching plastic pods and the more that people do small things like that the more we improve things. Now people like Sainsbury's are committed to real change things are looking up.
Internationally we'll ride two horses as we've always done. In time the EU will be our strongest ally - geography and inter dependency dictates it has to be. On the environment side it's a given anyway I think as what we both do directly affects us.
