We only need a few wins, so should be safe....however Saints are trying very hard to demonstrate otherwise. Probably realised that getting lots of points on the board and securing EPL status early was very unsaintly.
do you work in customer service? Say any thing to make the customer satisfied, even if it is totally delusional. I am thinking, if you came up on a 5 car pile up and 6 people were pronounced dead at the scene, you would think that there is a chance that a couple of them would wake up by the time they got to the morgue. Please repost this when we get the 16 points.
Sorry Old Boy but that is both very unfair and down right rude. People are giving their thoughts, opinions or guesses (whichever you prefer) on how many points Saints will get by the end of the season. Nothing more, nothing less. Tom reckons on 16 points and that is entirely possible if our form picks up. No need at all for you to insult Tom and use a fatal car accident to insult the guy. You should apologise for that.
Don't worry about it I wasn't offended. I just find it's better to be positive, particularly when there are things to be positive about. Maybe 16 points is a bit ambitious but I'm prepared to bet we'll get nearer to my estimation than the lowest ones.
You're always one of the most even handed posters on here Tom. Genuinely, what are the positives for you currently? Che is on an all-time scoring run. Forster hasn't faced a demolition yet. I'm struggling.
Positives: Ralph Injury list shrinking Still in FA Cup Schedule easing off Ralph Ings will be back soon Life back to normal soon Ralph
I just love that there are other people who could draw up a list of negatives and it would be exactly the same list Except maybe the life back to normal. Have to remind myself when I'm on here that you guys are living a very different life to us in NZ
Not really mate, it's a message board about football and the football is pretty **** at the minute with very little to be positive about and thats reflected in my posts. In real life I'm no where near this miserable! Honest question, away from the emotions of the match day threads; do you honestly rate RH that highly? If we went down (regardless of your belief about that happening) would you still rate him? You're part of a core of fans here who seem to love the guy, what is his appeal?
Yes I rate Ralph really highly. He's an intelligent coach, he plays a really good style of football, he clearly loves it here. But he's got his hands tied behind his back. If we get owners who will back him in the transfer market he will take us to the next level. I was at Ralph's first game at Cardiff. The difference between then and this season up until Jan is staggering. Form is temporary, class is permanent. Ralph is a top class coach and he's just as frustrated as any fan at the moment.
Plus he’s been excellent everywhere he’s been. Unlike some other of our recent coaches who people seem to rate weirdly highly!
I saw a twitter poll this morning from a reasonably well followed account. 2000 votes, 86% in favour of Ralph. Whatever negative views some might hold, the guy has been doing lots right this season. I think we are doing the right thing building around the Salzburg/Leipzig model from the ground up. I was listening to Ralph Rangnick (Sp?) about the model and its obvious we are looking to emulate. Ralph's hiring would have been a conscious part of that.
It's quite an interesting way of doing this actually - and really quite telling. Pochettino - good everywhere he's been (perhaps without quite excelling, yet). Koeman - terrible everywhere he's been, bar us. Puel - average everywhere he's been. Pellegrino - terrible everywhere he's been. Hughes - terrible everywhere he's been. Hasenhuttl - good everywhere he's been (if struggling for form currently). What does that tell you? Well, to me, it tells me that Ralph is all round the best manager we have had since Pochettino. Which is what I've always felt. It also tells me, as Tom rightly said, form is temporary. Class is permanent. Now form can sometimes do for a manager (see Pochettino at Spurs), but you don't always end up with anything better.
I find it interesting to note, Lincoln, that Wolves have only 2 points more than Saints from the same number of games played (admittedly the Liverpool game isn’t over yet and they may turn it around) but no one is saying they’re doomed, their manager should go and they’ll be lucky to pick up any more points ..... Just an observation ..... I don’t think we’ll get 16 points, but I also think that there are 4 clubs more likely to go down rather than us ......
I have been very surprised by their (Wolves) season. I expected more upheaval in the summer in terms of player poaching and when it didn't come I expected they would build on last year. Good squad, good manager, poor return.
