I wouldn't even consider it, mate.

I've a feeling that country will descend into civil war now. Go elsewhere and maybe go back when the country is safe again, not worth it now.

My mate has been over there for a month and is due to fly home tomorrow, I can't see that happening.

 

I'm off to Marmaris which is probably 20 miles from Rhodes by boat so I'm close to an EU country if things go pear shaped.
Most of the hassle was Ankara and Istanbul so my Turkish mates inform me it's safe as houses down there but in 45 mins I can be in Greece via boat so have a plan B.
Longer term I agree with you, Civil war is an inevitability.
Sadly.

 

If its 20 miles by boat, how many miles is it swimming or flying?

 

I don't know the conversions between nautical miles and air miles.
