https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...nderland-offer-sign-south-shields-2857132?amp What’s the crack with the echo trying to make us look like ****s all the time? As far as I can see he was playing for shields and he had a trial with us in February. According to that we offered him an under 23 spot and he’s chose to stay with shields playing men’s football. but they make it out as he’s ****ed us off because shields are a better option.
He's at university too, so playing part time for them is probably easier than playing full time for us and trying to study at the same time.
When Maja was offered the chance to move to a 'big club', he took and was roundly criticised for doing so. It would have been better to make progress here, playing in the first Team here than to join a bigger Club but join their 'development squad. This seems to be the reverse case and the lad has sensibly decided to take the option to continue to play first team football. And all the Echo has done is report the story. That's what a Newspaper is supposed to do. I don't see it as making SAFC look poor, but it does make this young player look bright.
Makes us look poor when the headline is he snubbed Sunderland for non league shields imo when that’s not the case he’s decided to carry on playing first team football rather then join our under 23’s. also his trial was in February so why the negative article?
I've lived in a few places in my life and The Echo is by far the worst local paper i've seen. Just check out their web site, The Sports pages covering SAFC is a joke. Proper bunch of amateurs.
The website is terrible. Full of spelling and grammatical errors as well as just generally poor writing. You would have thought that getting those right would have been the basics for a journalist, even on a ****ty local paper.
The Echo used to be such a vital part of Sunderland life way back when, especially the old Football Echo on a Saturday night.
I've said it b4 and I'll keep on repeating it....journalists these days are hopeless parasites. Spaces to fill in papers and any old ****e will do.
Noticed The Sun picked it up and reported similar. The lad clearly wanted to stay part time and finish his degree. If he was too enough at 23 he’d have been offered a place in the squad, not the under 23’s. Good luck to the lad, must have a good head on his shoulders
I agree. I mean, look at the headline below. How to garner local support. https://www.sunderlandecho.com/news...ies-while-trapped-30ft-telegraph-pole-2859822 As for the terrible grammar, spelling mistakes and overall poor journalism, do they not proofread their articles anymore before hitting the publish button?
Yeah, that's an odd headline to use in the Sunderland Echo. Must be the outsourcing thing, so they only have a basic understanding of the local area.
