The dead slow pitch doesn't help this game a jot. OK, Eastleigh don't have the facilities, and it probably suits their players, in any case. But I always think that a fast pitch makes for a better game. Slow pitches are great levellers though, so as I said, it probably suits Eastleigh.
Eastleigh GK Ryan Clarke playing after recently having both his grandfather and father die. I thought he was very brave coming in front of the cameras. He was quite obviously feeling it.
You understate it - that was an Away win. Magnificent.! I haven't watched the entire match, but my main feeling during the first game was that Eastleigh need to get their pitch in order. It is heavy and uneven. On the very good playing surface at Swindon they were able to play passing football, and you can see what they are capable of from the highlights below.
