How far is the walk in minutes from parkway?? 30-40minutes?? Hows the traffic in the area? Motorway two minutes?? you sure
    about that?

So poorer transport links than TM !!

    Was it the councils decision??

depending on whether you would be allowed to exit at either end at least 10 mins ...all from obvious end about 15 mins+ but then if comparing going N E S or West probably only minutes in it

could you explain what you mean? i googled your walk and it came up longer than i thought at fifty minutes. to the motorway fifteen minutes drive. Cribbs causeway fifty six minutes walking although why gig goers would go to cribs causeway and walk to the arena is an odd one??? Temple Meads has better transport links.

I for one do like city centre venues and the associated history/culture, and for people who come to Bristol for a gig at Filton but that live a long way away, they aren't going to want to come back again and go into the centre another time to look at what's there because it's A) too far to come again and B) not being central they won't know it's there in the first place.
The big losers in this total shambles are central Bristol businesses like bars and restaurants and Bristol tourism/reputation. Yes parking and traffic would be an issue but it will be the same at Filton.

Re the comments about Filton Airport. Before it was allowed to go to the dogs and be broken up and sold for housing, Filton
Aerodrome was well used by BAE and latterly by Airbus for freighter conversions. Plus of course, Concorde in the early testing days.

And how would we all feel if it was Ashton Gate that was being relocated miles from anywhere central and not a concert venue ?

City centre venue or Filton venue, both are going to be a pain in the arse to get to. Would much rather have it in the mix of all the decent pubs and atmosphere rather than some random chain one built next to the new arena.

Gigs in Manchester are great, the arena is smack bang in the centre and there is a cracking atmosphere before and after. Contrast that with the 3Arena in Dublin, you're crammed on the tram worse than you are on the tube in London, you watch the gig there, then it's a 45 minute odd walk back to any pubs/clubs, it was just night and day. And that's far closer than the planned Filton one!

Firmly in the city centre camp me <laugh>.
