Finally - something very good to chear about for you guys! He did well with Blackpool (In a very attacking minded team). If Rangers can pay the same way even I think they will survive the first season
Well I'd say we are a better team than Blackpool were last year......with Bothroyd, DJ and Tarrabt we have a definate Premiership attacking line up.......we had the best defence in the Championship last season, with Derry and Ali covering them......we also now have Dyer, so I dont think we will let in as many goals as Blackpool did....really feel we can stay up this season. With a couple more signings, as per Warnocks comments im totally buzzing for next weekend! you R's!!
We’ve gone from thinking we’ll splash the cash and come top half, to saying we’re doomed to relegation, to thinking we now have a fighting chance of staying up. Expectations aren’t high, the pressure’s off and every point means that much more – it’s gonna make for a great season.
It does look like you are heading in the right direction at last. I am still not sure about Bothroyd but DJ certainly can do the business in the PL. 1 question - why so cheap? I am guessing 1.25m + add ons but what would the final bill be?
Trigger in his contract, mate. Which meant that once this was known, nobody was ever going to offer Olly any more than 1.25 million.... Very happy he's agreed terms and passed his medical. I've always been a fan of the little-and-large fromt line, and Bothroyd paired with Campbell fits the bill nicely.
The fat boy is doing fine and maintaining his weight to use as a battering ram and there are reports he can still convincingly go down like a sack of spuds when required and banging in the goals in pre season friendlies
EXCLUSIVE: DJ'S COMING HOME Posted on: Thu 04 Aug 2011 Queens Park Rangers Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Blackpool striker DJ Campbell. The 29 year-old front-man, who scored 13 goals in the Barclays Premier League last season, has put pen to paper on a two-year contract at Loftus Road. The deal represents a remarkable homecoming for Campbell, who as well as supporting the Club all his life, also spent his early playing days in W12, alongside another new Rangers recruit, Jay Bothroyd. "It's a Club that I supported as a kid," an excited Campbell told www.qpr.co.uk. Article continues Advertisement "I grew up around here and QPR have played a massive part in my life. "This was my first Club, from 6-16, so to finally be back here at the age of 29 is really special." He added: "It's a massive Club and it means a lot to me to be back here where it all began. "There were other Clubs in the Premier League that showed an interest but when I heard QPR were in for me it was an offer I couldn't refuse - this is my Club." R's boss Neil Warnock is looking forward to working with the new number nine, commenting: "He is someone I have admired for a while now and he had a fabulous season in the Premier League with Blackpool last year. "He is a QPR fan and you can tell he has a great desire to do well for the Club he supports. That shone through when I met up with him - he can't wait to play for us. "He also gives us that extra element of pace which we need and I am sure he will prove to be a big hit with the fans at Loftus Road this season."
