Well , they seem to be consistent in their recklessness, ordering satellite technology that doesn’t work , hiring ships that don’t exist , property deals that are pure cronyism, boris is mates with the porn baron ......they are total spivs .
Unfortunately the westminster alternative isn’t very inspiring , the israeli backed labour party <doh>?

Oooh you are naughty - whose government placed the order for the ships in July 2008 (clue: not a Tory) and whose government signed up to the JSF Programm in 2001 (clue: also not a Tory)

And whose Government has been in charge since then, managing the project for 10 years?

You right wing lot are hilarious. We could have a Tory government for 50 decades and you'd still try to blame Labour/Corbyn.

Defence procurement is all about getting the contract right. Screw that up and you are ****ed. Ask a certain Frau Von der Leyen in Brussels - you wouldn’t believe the disasters she presided over as German Defence minister and somehow still got shoe-horned into the top job in Brussels.

i don‘t count myself as one of the right wing lot, I’ve only ever voted for the Green Party here in Germany. I just feel the need to add some objectivity every now and again.

So you're saying the Labour party at the time commissioned 2 aircraft carriers with no aircraft or supply ships? Don't you think people in the military might have mentioned it?

I don't know the details of the deal but the buck stops with the people who signed the deal and quite clearly the contracts did not have sufficient performance and penalty clauses. Cameron's decision to confirm the second carrier was probably more about saving face (and jobs) rather than any better sourcing decision than Brown's government. There you go - Brown and Cameron, equally **** decisions in this case <ok>

I see Scotland are considering putting the English into quarantine for 2 weeks if they want to visit Scotland.

Scotland have nearly beaten the virus despite their big urban areas.
the Scottish approach puts what is happening in England to shame.

I feel the wrath of QM approaching.
How dare you suggest the Scots could be capable of thinking for themselves.

Well, at last he is admitting something; "disaster" and "do things better and bounce back" Mamma mia, what an awful mess. <doh>

    From the "Evening Standard":

Boris Johnson has admitted that the coronavirus outbreak has been a "disaster" for the UK, but that the pandemic will give the country the chance to "do things better" and "bounce back".

His comments came as global coronavirus deaths surpassed 500,000, with the total number of cases topping 10 million. Some countries, including South Korea, which has has reported 42 new infections in the greater capital area, are considering reintroducing restrictions.

Meanwhile, MPs and senior ex-civil servants have accused Downing Street insiders of making Cabinet Secretary Sir Mark Sedwill the "fall guy" for mistakes in the handling of the coronavirus crisis after he confirmed his resignation.

Elsewhere, Leicester’s MP has said she is behind the idea of a local lockdown being imposed . Almost 3,000 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in the city since the start of the coronavirus epidemic, with 866 cases reported in the last two weeks.

Didn't we have a Politics thread ? I was going to put a joke there, but I'll park it here for safe keeping.

Andrzej Duda (Polish presidential candidate) went to Washington last week to hustle up some economic support from Trump. Not much luck there, apparently, but he did come away with the vocal backing of the Camptown Ladies.

And from an American freedom rally against restrictions, came the plaintive cry from a young lady who wears a "Trump Girl" shirt and refuses to wear a mask. “I would also like to know where do you get the authority to reduce my oxygen?"

    <laugh>

On a more serious note, some of these idiots were heavily armed. It's scary stuff when massed numbers of "me first" people begin to publicly arm themselves with assault rifles at drunk on freedom rallies.

More than half of the NHS trust areas in England have gone a week with no deaths.

and so yet more dithering by the government and we now have Leicester back to square one.

why won't people realise that until this virus is flattened we won't be able to get back to anything like normal ??

yes of course the country needs to open up for the sake of the economy but the lockdown measures in England have been so weak this just isn't going to happen.
it just continues to be a shambles.

yes less people are dying every day but you will now see the real consequences of the government inaction - millions of jobs lost
