Actually at the tail end of last season, and when Djourou was in the team for a run the season before, he was statistically one of the best defenders on goals allowed at several points. I know that because I was always defending him. I seem to remember getting into a spat with another poster about how stats mean nothing on the very issue. Obviously last night isn't going to help his record, but I still think he is still the best 4th CB in the league. If Koscielneys star keeps falling he may make it up the pecking order. I think Djourou's positioning is his strength. he very often is in the right place even if when the ball comes to him, he doesn't always make the best of it. Kos is probably a bit the other way round.
Yeah he has gone out on a limb for Kos. One of the reasons I try to stay moderate these days - I've made a fool of myself too often.
