After an initial panic at the thought of losing Pukki, I also think it might be good for him to have a rest for a few matches. Two of the next three matches are away, which will particularly suit Stiepermann's new role, but now with a fresh Rhodes up front. It's his chance to show what he can do, with Srbeny available off the bench if necessary. Fingers crossed that it works at this critical stage of the season.
Thanks for that, DD. He seems to be an U19 version of Pukki!. Impressive record for a 17 year old at that level.
For anyone who's free on 29th oct, he'll most likely be playing for the Under 23s at CR. Kick off at 7pm and tickets are FREE if you collect in person from Chapelfield or Carrow Road.
Here's video of Ida's goal today. https://www.fai.ie/ireland/match/24/2019/2023873?tab=report And this is his goal from six days ago.
Thanks for the highlights, CS. If Pukki's out of the coming games, Idah could make the bench alongside Srbeny. He looks to have loads of potential.
Jamal Lewis isn't named for N Ireland, it's a nothing game against Austria so I hope he's being rested and not carrying an injury, not even on the bench .
From Michael O'Neill's post-game press conference: "We have played Stuart (Dallas) at left back today as he has played there for his club. If Jamal (Lewis) gets injured, we don’t have anyone ho can slot in there, so we have to try things out.” "Jamal (Lewis) just had a little bit of tightness, and he's played every game for his club this season and five internationals for us, so it was a chance to give him a rest."
Hasn't Finland already won their group? Pukki should have been rested, Makes me appreciate Michael O'Neill all the more for sitting out Jamal Lewis.
Finland still want to win their group, so they need to finish above Greece to do that. They're losing 2-0 to Hungary, but fortunately, Greece are losing 0-1 to Estonia.
Pukki and Klose unscathed after international duty. Lewis was rested. Aarons plays again on Tuesday and Idah scored again for the RoI Under 18s.
Klose was excellent on his return to action dribbling out to start attacks and getting up for set pieces, he nearly scored a header . One of the best Internationals I have ever seen Belgium looked stunned after going 2-0 up .
