    Spion Kop (or Kop for short) is a name or term for a terrace at Anfield. It's steep nature resembles a hill near Ladysmith, South Africa, that was the scene of the Battle of Spion Kop in January 1900 during the Second Boer War.

    As for you skinman <doh> who cares if the club was founded by prods , im no bigot. many prods fought and died for ireland <ok>

    Also, not a lot of people know that QPR were founded by the Imperial British war commander in the Orange Free State and the Traansvaal regions of South Africa. His name was General Rupert Loftus, sometimes called Lord Portobello. He was an advocate of racial supremacy and thought that Africa was like the "Queens Park" and the native black population should be treated like animals in the Queens Park and the white man should be the Rangers of that park.

    So the first racists in english football were from west London. True story <ok>

    I guess that is why the pub next to the ground is called the Springbok.........It probably is.
