...or steven n'zonzi... or alexander tettey!

don't know much about tettey but certainly n'zopnzi and biglia are top quality players. i wouldn't mind getting two of the three to be honest.

good to see the problem position is being looked at <ok>

Its like when we got garrido. These are players we are targeting, we'll get one, they all look quite good.

I just worry about a system that's too defensive.

I dont think it would make the team too defensive, I think it would help the more attack minded players play there game while the DM would protect the defensive line. Its something we need and looks like we will be getting <ok>

This is very exciting. The fact that we are being linked with players who even last year wouldn't have looked twice at us is mouthwatering. Suspect that these have all been genuine enquiries, and as another poster has said, one will come off. I don't know enough about any of them, but an Argentinian who captains a top Dutch team sounds not bad!:o

belgian team... :D

Who-ton! Defensive! never!

if you know anything about football, and i believe you do, you'll know that a signing like this will give us the correct balance to be solid at the back AND maintain an attacking threat. i was having a heated debate with a city fan last night who was moaning that we aren't trying to buy a striker but that we keep buying midfielders - he simply wouldn't accept that buying a new striker would have left us with the same problem we have now, just with a different player up front! he told me i was 'talking bollocks'. laughably, he posted on twitter this morning how we need a defensive midfielder because buying a striker won't solve our issues!

i must have got through to him <laugh>

Rather than maintain an attacking threat, i'd go as far as to say that it would increase the attacking threat

We certainly need to learn to close up shop and finish games. I can't remember a game last year that it wasn't riding on the seat of your pants time. Exciting, yes, professional, not really.

But I would like someone in our front line to accompany our new defensive structure.

Fair enough, Supers. But with Vaughan going, we certainly need someone else up front, so I imagine Hughton already has someone in mind. Hooper? Not much enthusiasm on here for buying him for 8 million. Jordan Rhodes? I'd take the risk if the wages aren't too high, but lots of people on here wouldn't.
