For a few weeks in the spring, a small group of ex-Labour and ex-Tory politicians - The Independent Group - was rarely out of the headlines. After two name changes and more than half its MPs leaving, it barely registers today.
When the The Independent Group was launched, the plan was to force a major realignment in British politics and entice others away from the main parties.
"This isn't some sideshow," insisted Anna Soubry, the most prominent of the three Conservatives to join the group. "This is serious. We need a new political party and it's absolutely got to be done." and what chaos it has led to ………………...

when you consider the waste of money Brexit has caused you could have built probably 4 of the biggest most modern hospitals ..1 in each country of the uk. paid for the 20000 police, put another 200 officers into border patrol, reduced vat by 2% and a whole load of other things
the above lost 10's of thousands in the EURO's …. labour blindly blindly trying to keep us from leaving is costing us over £333m a week, we have paid to EUROPE circa £8bn since we should have left in MARCH … THAT WOULD HAVE SEEN OUR FARMERS AND FISHERMEN WELL COVERED …. we cant do anything whilst we are in and £13bn goes a long way securing our jobs industries and even the government having a free hand to "interfere in a positive way" with keeping some of our industries competitive [ euro u prohibits a lot of that ]
now the Scottish court rules "illegal" well pro rogueing parliament isn't going to end soon?! the appeals processes will take time party conferences … about to start that's 3 weeks plus this week that's 4 so at worst we would likely return on 7th October?
kick off this weekend with lib dems/ labour /conservatives/snp [13th /15th October ] so conferences cover 4 weeks anyway !

“Even if insanity triumphed and we didn’t get a withdrawal agreement from the EU – that they opted to cut their nose off to spite their face – the UK and EU would still have a deal. An automatic deal under the all embracing World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules. How? Because the UK and EU are both WTO members in their own right and the WTO specifies WTO members must offer each other ‘Most Favoured Nation’ (MFN) deals.”

”Countries which have a relationship based on WTO terms alone have much less favourable access to the EU Single Market. The EU imposes a common external tariff on countries outside”

on parliament channel Sadiq Khan mayor of London … labour … spent all their money! ………….. was being grilled today about his acute failure to do his job and all he could do was poke fun and laugh at the councillors and when told to "have some respect etc etc" by the chair … stated " you are not allowed to speak to me like that" [reference to one of the people stating his failure to do the job] he is even more arrogant and self centred than Corbolliks, womble, red trousers and mervyn combined …. had to turn it off made me :emoticon-0119-puke:

YELLOW HAMMER discussions interesting fact when stating 2 day delay 10000 lorries "packed with food and medicine" wrong in my early retirement years when I courier work I travelled almost daily certainly once a week via ferry or train …. YES THERE IS circa 10k lorries uses both these rotes [ Calais ] but they are not all carrying food or medicines ] if every available lorry space on a ferry was taken up with a fully loaded lorry it would likely sink!
I cant put a number on it but a lot are returning empty or just have a few items of non foodstuff return loads probably 2000 a day may be carrying perishables simple thing is have these in a separate lane... the goods transport lanes are 2 or 3 times more than for cars or vans … this would also help to keep down carbon emissions as thee vehicles often arrive at the port 2 or 3 ferries or more before their sailing … on the train is drive on drive off [but you can book!]
a lot of this stuff is poorly researched. Before the ports you often get lorries parking up for 1 or 2 days .. with fridges on! because drivers are used that have no drive time to actually make it across to UK ….
1 OF THE BORDER FORCE progs opened a lorry full of fruit temp was kept at 3c, interviewed the driver said the immigrants must have got on board whilst he parked up near Dunkirk for 2 days they were lucky there was only 5 of them as the o2 level must have been 1% …. so much for comment that" important the fruit leaves producer and gets to shelf just in time to be bought!"

its been a really interesting week... our weekly discussion started with an agreement we do not discuss ones! line of posting on here … !!
instead it started with a summary of England football and cricket and Somersets "crazy way" to win match's and their probability of being 8 pts clear with 2 to play ………. also Gloster pushing to join them next season.
then it degenerated to politics ……………….. consensus was driven by ones repeated drivel in so much as it is the same old comments with pretty much the same old answers the exchanges were boring!
Cherry, Rudd, Bercow Corbolliks Womble Grieve AND Mcdonnell taking the brunt of our discussions … these were voted as the most treacherously slippery of the Remainers with Swinston being dismiss as someone who does not merit discussion as she is totally un democratic.
court cases … really confusing although the QC going for the latest courtcase in Edinburgh said he did so because it is the easiest court to get a ruling …..
next Tuesday will be interesting … "how can it be proved Boris was lying"? our discussions were inconclusive … "rumours/leaks" indicate he was possibly planning to prorogue before the votes .. laying out the spending on hospitals etc was in the pipeline and with the turmoil of Brexit and the remainers his hand was forced that he had
    a) to do it
    b) do it longer than he wanted
in an effort to get it prepared for the QS...!
OF COURSE THIS COULD DRAG ON an appeal would not likely be a quick event!
General Election .........… tories lead labour by x % number of votes, however it does not equate to seats ...just how many people would be likely to vote for … 326 is the magic number!
yellowhammer …………. without repeating myself, it was concurred that the number of vehicles carrying medicine and food was likely to be just a lesser percentage of the 10000 LG vehicles crossing daily our figures ranged from 12,000 per week to 18,000 on the ferries and a pro rata % via Felixstowe Southampton and [Liverpool mostly from EIRE /NI] vast amounts of our "dry goods/medicines/ and certain fruits and vegetables from non Europe are containerised or flown in direct to go to supermarket shelves ……
we all agreed it was a worst case scenario of what to avoid happening
only 7 today last comments was who to vote for it was unanimous don't waste a vote ….vote BORIS

what a two face "b*tch" Jo is AND her cronies are so far detached from the reality and what a hypocritical load of speech's "praising" Paddy almost as bad as the Sun v Stokes! he condemned their actions back in 2016 they have very short memories or just think peeps will only be thinking of the now...………….
Paddy must be turning in his grave and wishing he had a tank at hand to blast the stage clear of the self opiniated drivellers.
Even some of their "past sell by dates" had the bottle to say they may be shooting themselves in the foot ….
be interesting to see if CORBOLLIKS and CO /Boris pick up the gauntlet and give her a slagging!!
They are 7? seats richer by defection than the election? I lost count! how many toward the 326 will they gain at next election?

    OH MY G………………………….
McDONNELL ………….. listened to his speech, and just like Corbolliks, is promising paradise to the masses ………..
On this forum we have quite a few family people who have mortgages, or live rented have kids/had kids/ young/middle aged /"old phartz".. work save etc … the oveall umbrella that we are/lived under is B U D G E T …………….WE EARN £100 AND WE SPEND £100.
In other words we live within our means. So the government's wages is taxes! and they spend our money [taxes] giving us all "a few benefits"
It takes x hours to do ones job, I have had quite a few and enjoyed everyone, as one redundancy came along I would have a couple weeks off and think what I might do next.
EACH of those jobs on reflection I would have found it hard to do in 32 hours [ based on 4 day or 5 day week ] in other words in less than 6 -8 hours in a day! Quite common nowadays is a 35 plus hour week.
the 42 hour week was argued [ was part of a negotiating team back in the late 60's 70's ] that 168 hours in a week.....was loosely = 56 hours to sleep! 56 hours to enjoy yourself and 56 hours for work /travelling to and 56 hours for work and meals! [ or 4 x 42 hours as some the negotiators got by on 6 hours! ]
how ever a 40 hour works as does a 37.5 and a 35 hour working with add on time for meal break would be in my book be ideal. However we the workers are not the dictators as to how we should work or when we turn up to do our turn ...THAT is the domain of the COMPANY....
they have a product needs to be "presented at a competitive price" and manufactured or generated at a cost that is effective to give the best end result.

I will leave the maths for you to work out … the logarithmic equation for this is simple in providing the answer ...a spiral of upward out of control costs when you add in same wages less hours.
He stated everyone will be on a max of 32 hours with no loss of weekly wage … imagine going from 42 hours @ £8 a week = £336 to 32 hours at £336 a week = £10.50 an hour ...then the employer has to cover the loss of 10 hours so for every 3 existing he employs another staff [ £336 ] so the item the 3 made costing £ 1600 [ materials etc ] now costs £1936 ….. = NO
You have to add employee cost NI/pension etc additional Vat @20% increase in work force so more lockers space set aside for canteens etc etc etc … = D I S A S T E R

another aspect is some companies allow staff to smoke off the premis/ special areas non smokers get penalised just 6 ***s a day is they don't work 30 mins!

You should probably consider the fact that in many cases, lesser hours or lesser days has been proven to increase productivity though, just as flexible working has. It's not always quite as simple as more hours = more product (although in many jobs with fixed turnout it obviously is).

I'm not sure what the answer is, but something has to be done about the opportunity to actually get a house and plan for life for the young 'uns now. Yeah they are spoiled in many ways compared to the older generations but for the average young person now it is basically impossible to buy a property. God knows how that is fixed mind.

.. the biggest problem is where is the money coming from for all his "modifications to society"
is he basing it on the fact we wont be in EU so 13bn to play with? Well that will be money we don't pay out ..BUT... WE will then be funding those attributes the EU contribute now … the EU money for Wales, NI and Scotland plus the agricultural and fisheries subsidies that will needed to compete with those dolled out to European countries by the EU! SO YES £13bn but already spoken for. So from where...….ah of course labour is a borrowing party everytime they are in they build up debts and then lose the GE leaving that to be sorted the next government ...and of course we did mention it in #128 from taxation …. so lets see about 30m pay tax … there are about 1m pensioners? [ about 1 to 4 ratio oaps to 1-64 year olds ] there is around 5 million or more households that could qualify for the freebie treatment ….of course as he stated funded by tax! … so just 1 person a day visiting for care to 1 household based on 1hour total £10/ph = 10 x7 x52 =£3,650 PA so divide that by 6 = approx. £600 per year extra tax per person to pay the bill ...ahhhh ......….good old logi! thats 1 pensioner and only 7 of 32 hours! ….THATS THE SIMPLE BIT
WHAT I wont go into is the maths for the true figure .. for every carer …. allow for travel/breaks …. they manage [ reduced hours 32 pw ] 2.5 visits per hour so = 20 visits per day or 80 per 32 hours the reality is that £600 extra tax for this will be well short!
and then of course you have the paying for uni's and all the benefits he is going to fund … so JUST how much will working 32 hours at £10 a week [minimum] cost the worker in tax! …. or will it be another black hole ….?

    MASSACRE in the commons …..
spent a few hours watching today as putting in a new kitchen and had a load of fiddly bits to do …………..
it didn't matter where the comment came from 11.30am onwards Cox QC pretty much blew most of the attempts to be sarcastic / degoratory / etc out of the water with a slightly bigger return of fire!
TONIGHT [not watched all of it ] But BORIS, well what can you say totally anniliated poor old Corbolliks, at one point I was actually on the point of feeling sorry for him, bright red face and no where to hide face like a never before seen as bad slapped ass of a donkey. Boris had a gattling gun against the muskets of the opposition, one interesting point won and well put over had rapturous applause from nearly all on the government side and quite a few spread out on the opposition.
On local TV tonight there was a bit on Essay writers and cheating at our uni's! and how they know who is because a app can be used to check for plagerism's etc and true to form The scots Womble stood up for his rant .. 8 sheets of script .. and a stern warning from the speaker who stopped him in his tracks when about to flout, again [ has been a few times before and been ejected from the house for it using immoral language /terminology] excessively libelous comments about Boris. he has been [ womble] second only to corbilliks on the sharp edge of the tory PM'S at PMQ's.
Far from seeing BORIS TURNING UP CAP IN HAND, head bowed he was like a lion that won over his right to be king of the pride …
Swinston wow she got up "puffing her bust out" spouted her poison and was duly dispatched, sat there dumbstruck by Boris's reply, a slapped ass...………. more like a jelly fish that had just missed the tide!
there was even one Labour "girlie" complained she and others were being targeted threatened was almost in tears, around her was 2 or 3 other cohorts all smiling and yessing mouthing " we are yes we are … NO MESSING BORIS .."Mr speaker that is the biggest load of humbug Ive heard in a lifetime" … BROUGHT IT ON YOURSELF!
even the speaker intervened [ credit ] same for either side of the house leave or remain basically "tough sh**" get on with it ………….
one by one they fell …. battle of the little big horn, Boris Sitting Bull … Corbolliks and co poor old Gen:custard!

we need something like a massive underground explosion in the middle of the pacific as a new volcano erupts and that will do no harm to anyone or anything but be so spectacular that the news media are forced to have something to report.... at the mo they are just recycling the same old political drivel …. and looking for anyone that might appeal, with a sob story or anti government cross to bear to draw the audience toward there outlet.
Hypocrysy! the family of Jo Cox, asked for it to all be dropped don't associate her memory …. today her sister is on the box!
John Major stirring it up …never liked him as a PM … is he trying to cover up a misdemeanor?? / his own failings.. he certainly wont go down as one of our top 30 PM's
EU now in a gambling mood? …. are they believing they can extract a further 3 or 4 £bn from us! until we leave we have to keep paying and we are on a net loss... they pay us/discount us very little at the moment.

BIASED beeb … it has been stated what would have to spend money on after leave +1 day = fishing, industry, farming etc and they don't even report it or make good of it [ unless I HAVE MISSED IT ]
Finally, the church …. well, managed to ead the first few lines ……..they state "stop the language and honour the peoples wish's"
