There are two at big prices at Pontefract in the next that I hope will give me a run for E.W money. SOWAYLM 40/1 - Outsider of the field but judging by his first two career efforts he is a horse with plenty of ability, whether or not he retains it is a different matter but he can be forgiven his latest two efforts, I am always filling to forget one bad run and a potential excuse for his latest effort was needing the run and perhaps not handling Epsom DIESENTRIC 14/1 - Won the Wood Ditton as a 3yo and hasn't went on since, but he was also returning from a big break last time out and could go close if he just needed the run, represents top connections
An interesting horse in the 3.50 at Hexham is Yvonne Evelyn, won well last time out, now in handicap company off a fair enough mark. Choc Thorntons only ride of the day and also Alan Kings only runner. Worth a play at 5/1
On the subject of Rory McIlroy and the US Open, there is a stoundout bet to be had tonight. He is in the Final 2 ball with Y.E Yang, and the Korean can be backed at 13/8 to win the 2 ball. This is a massive price, McIlroy is going to be nervous and i'd be very suprised if he shoots under par again. I was on Cabrera against him in the final round of the Masters at a similar price, and we all seen what happened there. Whilst I still think McIlroy will win the event, as 8 shots is to big a lead, I do think there will be plenty of wobbly moments and I can see him shooting 3 or 4 over par which would still win the tournament, but he would most likely lose the 2 ball. Yang has nerves of steel, this is the same guy who went head to head with Woods in the final round of the US PGA a few years back and beat him despite starting 2 shots adrift, so there is no way he is going to impload. So fill your boots on Yang tonight at 13/8, it's a shoo in
Probably a decent enough bet Shergy, as clearly young Rory has no need for anymore record breaking rounds or magic golf. He'll be heading out with a damage limitation mindset and I'm sure he'll be delighted should he shoot a 74 or 75 as that will be more than good enough to take the glory! Having said that though, I wouldn't be too surprised should he set a record winning margin, though as he's pretty much broken every other record going for the tournament he won't be too disappointed if he doesn't
Beeforsalmon, tell the truth WE want him to go an create history, and go on to become hopefully one of the best ever, wouldn,t that be great. Shergar that sounds like a shrewd mans bet as opposed to a heart from heart punter like myself.Thats prob.why your better at it than me. lol cant do smileys yet cheers.
Well McIlroy was just to good, we haven't seen a player as good as him since Woods burst on the scene. McIlroy has now dominated the last 2 majors, I know he lost the Masters but he should have won it. He is the best player in the world at the moment, and now he has won a major he won't be crumbling again like he did in Augusta. I can see him going onto win many more majors. The presenter suggested he could get near Jack Nicklaus's record that's a bold statement, maybe abit over the top, considering Woods is struggling to get there. 7/1 McIlroy for the Open could be worth a punt
