last few games we conceded too late to do anything about it. today we conceded early and had all game to get something. i would have thought that this would make ward more attacking as cant sit back and defend if losing. we had the odd good spell but thats it. not good enough. not done enough to get back in this. not created enough, not attacked enough and lack of concentration at the back has costed us twice (same story each week)
Clarksons our joint top goalscorer. Matty Harrold since the nasty injury are his best days now behind him? Trying to be positive when our match is pants. We dont seem to be able to perform away next match at home Strikers who needs strikers COR
bad injury to norburn. high foot. only a yellow. norburn will have to come off and lockyer getting ready to come on.
standard of the game.... man of match was given to the d&r keeper. just for saving the pen as he hasnt done anything else.
well done rocky. perhaps we may bring a smile to gas faces on Tuesday when the shrews do what posh did today at trashton. good win for the wobblers. do hope gas and city can stay in the league. Wrexham and Hereford are such draughty places, especially tomorrow. Irene will need her long johns on tomorrow.
Post match comments from Dagenham Rovers’ manager John Ward was a disappointed man as he faced the press following this afternoon’s defeat against Dagenham & Redbridge. Trailing to Abu Ogogo’s tenth minute goal at the break, his side had an opportunity to get back on level terms early in the second half, but Matt Harrold’s penalty was saved by home keeper Chris Lewington. The Daggers scored again on 72 minutes and that was game over as Rovers posed very little threat in the final 18 minutes. “I am really disappointed with this afternoon’s performance and I don’t know how many times I can keep saying that after games. “We didn’t play particularly well in the first half but we were still in the game and then had an opportunity to get back on level terms with the penalty. We didn’t take it and the game drifted away from us especially after the second goal.” The manager was particularly disappointed with what he called some of the thinking by his players. “That was a disappointment. I think that players were trying, physically, but decision making and concentration levels were missing on a consistent basis over the 90 minutes. “I think that comes when you are confident and playing well, but when times are difficult, as they are now, chances and opportunities are passing us by and we have to improve on that.” It was even more frustrating in that he was able to field quite an experienced lineup this afternoon. “I didn’t put a young side out today, but one with some experience and some of those players have to do better. “The game is about results and the senior boys know that but we have huffed and puffed at the front end of the team again. “I made three changes for the game in an attempt to try to shake that up a bit but it didn’t happen for us again. “I’ve no idea what might have happened had we scored from the penalty spot, but we didn’t, and have lost the game and that’s why it’s so disappointing and frustrating for us.” Once again, the goals conceded were from set pieces. “It is a concern, and will be if it continues, so we have to have better concentration levels at our marking from set plays.”
