The studies I've mentioned were multiple real life events, and incorporated the wider issues, that putting a plastic cup on your head would not magically resolve.
There was a time when people where told that asbestos wouldn't do them any harm and just get in with it . Sometimes people need certain rules. You would probably been one of them !
^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Stop being sensible will you ! I think we should remove Pelican crossings while we are at it
But your chances of being involved in an accident are statistically much higher as whenever a driver sees a cyclist is wearing a helmet they will drive 3” closer to you.
Talking of bicycle lights, I had some **** coming the other way with what can only have been a ****ing floodlight attached to the front one night last week. It was worse than those dickheads with their cheap HID kits on their cars, it was completely blinding.
What points did you actually make, just out of interest? I recall the bit about falling over on the pavement being more meritous for wearing protective headgear but don't remember any others. If you could summarise them and point to any research, it may support your viewpoint better than just calling people narrow visioned. Could you clarify what alternate viewpoints would make us less narrow in our viewpoint?
You'd also be more at risk as the statistics show that it's safer to cycle in areas where cycling is more prevalent, as the drivers are more used to them, and compulsion shows a marked drop in cycling.
Some of those car lights are ****ing ridiculous ! Yes your right dickheads I mean how much do they spend on some of those cars ?
I think if we had separate lanes away from roads helmets obviously would not be needed as much . But people on a bike on the road should be wearing an helmet !
All existing highways are effectively cycle lanes, cars are allowed in them conditionally. If the danger is from cars, that is where the safety measures should be applied.
