Mate, they're still stuck in the dark ages, that lot. The one ground in the country I'd think twice about going back to. On the tube home that day, we hid our scarves and I told my son not to smile til we got to London Bridge.
Done it twice ... FA Cup ... lost both times ... first one was the game before they rioted at Luton in the following round ... 1983 or 84 ... they invaded the pitch after beating us ... then stormed our end after the players got off
They played Everton at Goodison in the FA Cup back in the 70's on the same day we played Man City at Anfield, the daft ****s payed to get into the Gwaldys St End and got ****ing battered, a few of them ended up in hospital. After the game what was left of them faced a combined mob of EFC/LFC scallies and got chased from Goodison to Lime St station, ****ing **** bags.
Think you beat us 3-1 in August 2003 at WHL and Hoddle was sacked the next day. I remember the cup match on January 4th 2003...was my 36th birthday and my youngest was 4 days old (new years eve babe) ... way to kill a special day
No need to, Commie. I was at all three games. I remember the two close together - I was the one who reminded Archie about them. We were utterly crap. Probably the worst I have ever seen us play. I remember the 4-0 tonking particularly well. We look like rabbits in headlights. Hoddle had to go, and it was clear that he was going to get the sack after that game. He was clueless. It must have hurt him that it was the Saints game that did for him.
Just checked, and he was actually sacked in the September! And it was after the 1-3 reverse fixture against Saints. How the Hell did he make it that far? It's funny the tricks the mind plays. I could have sworn I saw Greavsie play for Spurs when he was still at Chelsea, back in 1957, when I wasn't even born...
Didn't say wanyama isn't a beast. Just saying like mane, wanyama is under the Southampton curse with no return date set in sight for his dodgy knee. Poch unfortunate isnt top enough and will suffer the same fate as wenger 2000s. Nearly there but not quite close enough. Poor chap
Yeah, thinking about it, the 3-1 must have been the following season, because Kevin Phillips definitely scored, and he wasn't in our squad in the 2002/3 season. I remember it was a beautiful sunny day. And p*mpey lost, because after the whistle we were all singing "Southampton win, & p*mpey lose, oh baby, you got me laughing at blues..." That, & "sacked in the morning.." at Glenda, of course. And he was. Sorry about your birthday
That 4-0 FA Cup was a thing of beauty. We were unbelievable that night. The 3-1 at WHL which got him sacked was sweet too.
